Because initial attraction is very shallow .. once you get to know someone properly you can move towards them being 'the one' .. also just because there is one 'special' person doesnt mean that the others are all hideously unattractive!
Love is one of the biggest gray areas in life .. what suits you may suit only you in the whole world ..and thats ok.

Since only one will get the one guy or girl everyone persuing, the ones that get rejected will move on. Don't worry about it. If he or she doesn't want you there are others out there.

but then there are ten guys who wouldn' want to go out with that girl, or ten girls who wouldn't want to go out with that guy. and usually after people start dating a gorgeous person, then they get to know their personality, they realize looks aren't all that important.

Physical beauty does definitely attract all human beings....
But i guess once you know the person, whats more important is what you are (inside).
I knew a girl, who was damn hot & attactive, but once i knew her she didnt feel so beautiful, cause she was air-head.
