Some mental problems are caused by heredity, but not all. Depending on what type of mental problems are present in your family, you may or may not have the same deterioration. Find out about your familie's history and if you suspect that this is an inhereted problem, go to your doctor and discuss the possibilities and/or options available to you.

Maybe or maybe not. Do you feel or see symptoms in yourself? Mental Illness can pass down to others in the family but not necessarily. For example, I am bipolar and statistics say my daughter has a 25% chance of getting the illness which means to me a 75% chance she won't.

It can be to some extent, Genes play a small role however it is often more to do with the environment which leads a person down the insanity route.
Your genes can speed up the process for example if your a more angrier person then your likely to go mad quicker

Sad to say, there is always that possibility..but the good news is...it could also miss you and you are already on top of it...Just go on line and see what possible new meds are there for your particular family illness...I would really research it thouroughly and pray it misses you. God Bless

Usually, mothers can only pass schitzophrenia on to their sons genetically and only fathers can pass it on to their daughters. Same for bi-polar disorder.
But 'madness' can have an environmental genesis, too. Drug abuse can bring it on, as can trauma.

Sadley mental health is somthing that is passed on, But that is not to say that you will go that way. If you are worryed go and see your doc, and talk to them about it.

There is the possibility that you might or might not. You have yourself to make sure that you do not.
