My mum is a long time sufferer of bad knees, hips and problems with her hands. I just feel so helpless i want to do something for her. She has to have knee replacements etc, but her legs are so bad that doctors can't do anything at the moment. She can't walk properly and the beginning of the year my pop died who was her father, one leg had been amputated and he was needing to get the other one amutated too, sadly he passed away in the theatre. I'm scared for my mum and her life is so restricted at the moment, i realise that there are people worse off than her but i hate seeing her like this, i want to do more. anyone in this type of situation or any good advice i'd much appreciate thanks heaps xo

Talk to your mum about your concerns and ask her if there is more you can do for her. Also, because of where her father passed, she may be a little frightened to go too many places. If that is the case, just be patient with her and try to do the things she loves and those things that interest her to help take her mind off of all of the stress she is under. You could also ask to go to the doctor with your mum and ask him what more you could do for her at home to make her more comfortable.

Good Luck...

You did not say what was wrong with her legs that she cannot get the knee replacement at this time so I will try to do a little guess work. When she gets her knee replacement done that will most likely take care of the hip pain . Is she now in physical therapy to build up her legs pryor to surgery? If she is than you need to be sure she does all the exercises at home. If she is not then you should find out about therapy. It is very good at fixing legs that do not work right. I know this because I have just finished a course of therapy after surgery for my bad knee. What kind of problems with her hands? Can't help you without a little more information. One thing for sure you have to be using an excellent orthopedic surgeon with knee problems they are the best.

i'm no longer a breeder. I did get a Golden puppy from a breeder and at 9 months of age got here across out he had Hip Displasia. there change into no longer a 2 year well being assure with my canines. I saved him any way. I loved him even with this example. i guess it relies upon on what the proprietors planned on doing with the canines. Had they planned on exhibiting, breeding or what? maximum individuals change into connected and nonetheless pick to maintain the canines. The canines ought to no longer be bred, even if the Vet would pick to no longer neuter right this moment for the objective of weight income. English Mastiffs are huge canines. If the breeder is prepared to take the canines back are the proprietors prepared to furnish the canines back right this moment? even with the finest of strains there aren't any guarantees. i'd do precise the following if no longer already performed. yet appears like some would were. a million) contact the Breeder and see what they ought to assert. they'd be prepared to anticipate countless the costs if surgical procedure is necessary. 2) Have an x-ray taken of the canines hips. 3) Have the canines checked through an Orthopedic Vet. See what they reccomend. 4) surgical procedure isn't continually the most proper decision, or reccomended through Orthopedic Vets. 5) keep him lean, so there is not any extra unnecisary weight income. 6) exercising, swimming is the most proper yet no longer confident if English Mastiffs opt to or can swim. strolling is powerful too. 7) No leaping or unexpected turns even as operating. 8) canines food with glucosamine or a canines food for tremendous breed that has glucosamine in it. desire this enables. i visit ask the question in my canines crew also.

I'm a carer and unfortunately there isn't much you can do for your mum I'm afraid, the best thing for your mum would be to keep her spirits up, don't let her give up !! she needs to keep her brain active and looking on the bright side helps, if she doesn't already have a wheelchair you should get one for her, contact your local red cross or salvation army, the later also have day centres she could attend, i know she is in a lot of pain but sitting at home and being down really wont help either, have you enquired about home help / carers ? sometimes even a little help or company can really help, hope everything goes OK and I'm sorry for your loss x

Its natural to worry and feel helpless. I'm sure they would of been other health problems in regards to your pop. But being they and easing the suffering will be a huge help. What about getting a little family support so you can relax a bit more and enjoy some you time or these hospice's which o.k don't sound good but i think your mum would love it getting out & socialising.... I've been in a similar situation...

Their is a plant called Aloe Vera it is really good for joint pain. Why not try that you can get it at health food stores. You sound like a wonderful person and I hope your mum recovers. Just keep on giving her the love and support that you are already doing that also helps the healing process.
God Bless You.

My mum died a couple of years ago. Her health deteriorated badly during her last 5 years.

It's the feeling of helplessness, you want to do more but you can't.

I'm sure whatever you are doing to help is welcome. You can only do your best, you cannot do anymore, yet I expect you have some sort of guilt feeling that things could be better but you don't know what.

The only thing I can offer is tea and sympathy.

Best wishes

Mike

I think all you can do is give her the best quality of life she can get. I read that she is physically disabled not mentally impaired, so do things that are stimulating to the mind. Go to the zoo (places that cater for wheelchairs), museums, picturesque places to help her feel better about life and that although she has a lot to face, there's a beautiful world out there and a kind child doing all they can.

The cost of knee joint replacement surgery is very low in India as compared to USA,UK and Canada. You can get the surgery done there in a fraction of cost of what would you pay in USA or private UK

There is one company that is very famous in India that arranges orthopaedic surgery for foreigners in India. They are called the Forerunners Healthcare.I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and about their patient stories.

I have also read that they arrange financing for american and canadian patients as all surgery is not covered by insurance or by NHS in the UK.They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. The cost savings are incredible. As a doctor i personally believe that your knee joint replacement surgery can be easily handled in India as the quality of healthcare available here is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.

My cousin also got her hip replacement surgery for in India through the forerunners healthcare .She is more than very happy with the results. She is totally pain free now.She just paid 25% of the amount she was quoted in USA and is all praise for this forerunners healthcare company. hope this helps.
I would recommend this company to you as you are willing to travel abroad and get the surgery at low cost.

Lots of hugs and kisses to her to DISPLAY your love and concern. Ask her medical doctor about low impact exercise. Ask DHHS for home health assistance if this is needed; Ask a herbalist (or search the web for info) about glaucosamine / chrondroitin capsules (Chiro-Manis' Discat Plus) and alsoTahitian NONI juice (see Noni-Station on web). These have helped me avoid knee replacement and seems to have improved ny general well being. PLEASE search the web for info on their benefits ( joint cartilage repair, overall well being, etc). Dedicated dosages and time are necessary. Many chiropractors have info on these also. You may want to consider counseling for her if she is depressed and still in mourning. One problem may contribute to the other. God bless you for being concerned about her. Sadly, so many children do not have time for their parents!
