I know a lot of people and they all shouted and screamed when they heard this. However, I have done a bit of a straw pole, at a local church, and ALL of those christians, bar none, wanted to have a totally christian society.
25% of British Muslims thought that the terrorist attacks on London was at least justifiable, (not justified) but at the straw pole I conducted well over half, nearly two thirds of christians thought the war with the middle east was not only justified but very nessesary to keep the muslims "under control".
I am neither religious or "psuedo religious" (talk to a born again and see what I mean) but surely this must be stopped?
Is it the duty of the modern aetheist to try and stop them or do we let them get on with it?
Is it even feasable to ban the "voice" of religion on the world stage?

They're wrong.

If they want a muslim leadership... I hear Saudi has room. I am sick and tired of these people treating England as a ground for them to try and preach hate and then detonate bombs of tubes (that I was bloody on) because things don't go their way. Innocent people are dying because they have a chip on their shoulder because they are a minority.

"Is it the duty of 'modern' atheists"? What is a 'modern' atheist?
An atheist is one who does not believe there is a God , and therefore thinks that all religion is complete BS!
This obviously includes Islam and Christianity, (out of the two Christianity is the biggest load of BS)!!
I don't consider it my 'duty' to stop any silly arguments between religious factions about who or which should rule the world!
I cant see much purpose being served by your 'straw pole' I can see that all Christians think the world should be Christian and all Muslims think the world should follow Islam.
I can also understand why some Muslims hate the West, (they believe they are being oppressed and suppressed) which they certainly are!! Not many secrets being released here are there?
As for your final part of the question "ban the voice of religion on the world stage"? I think all parties try to do just that, for 'diplomatic' reasons, but it is and always will be an underlying factor! With Christians supporting one side and Muslims the other!!
All these 'religions' will die eventually, but not in our life time, and other stupid religions will replace them, I think there may be some atheists left about to point out the error of their ways?
I look forward to the coming of the new 'God of the Carrot' in a few more years! (PBUH)!!

Yeah apparenrtly 25% - 30% of British Msulims believe those who were murdered on 7/7 in London deserved to die.

Bastards.

If they think that they should GET OUT of this country! Hoe dare they try to dictate who "deserves" to live or die. Arrogant bastards.

And there will never be a Muslim leadership in this country, they should just stop dreaming. If they don't like living under our non-Muslim government the answer is simple - leave the UK and go and live in a Muslim country. Why don't they do that?? They have no right to tell everyone else how to live their life.

It is a sad fact that most people have a control-based picture of 'how the universe works' - including how relationships work, especially our relationship with God. And of course they try to impose the control of their 'right thinking' on everyone else.

I think we all agree that the world could stand some improvement. The problem is that the only thing which will really improve matters cannot be legislated. We have to get out of that control-based thinking entirely. And we're going to continue to have problems until EVERYONE does it.

In other words, everyone has to start doing everything out of love for God and neighbor. There can be no motivation of fearing punishment or desiring a reward. If either of those things is present, it is a sure sign that we love not God or our neighbor, but rather ourselves and our fears and desires.

To the extent that religion can point a person in that direction, it is a good thing. The problem is that if someone reads a religious text, e.g. the Bible, it is a like mirror, and people are likely to see their own reflection in it. If they have hatred and tyranny in their hearts, that's what they will find in the Bible - but quite often they will call it by another name, for example, 'fear of God' and 'obedience'.

And so they will take their own fears and ambitions, cloak them in words of Scripture, call that 'the clear teaching of Scripture', and then tell everyone else that they can only call themselves 'spiritual', 'Spirit-filled', etc. if they 'obey' this 'clear teaching of Scripture'.

This is a very pernicious form of spiritual manipulation, and it is universal in the crowd who think that we should have a Christian or Muslim theocracy. I REALLY would not want to see either of these forms of government come to pass - even the supposedly Christian one.

Another way to put what I am saying is that the mere fact that some group or institution (or individual, for that matter) calls itself Christian or Muslim, does not make it so. Often those who insist the loudest that they are 'the real thing' are the ones who have little or no idea what 'the real thing' is.

The flip side of saying that we all need to get out of that control-based 'system' - change our way of thinking and acting, do things simply out of faith and love - is that divine intervention is necessary for it to work. It is not inconsequential where we direct our faith and love, to Whom.

Theocracies do not work because they try to usurp a place in people's lives which rightly belongs only to God, and people willingly acquiesce to this because it gives them someone to blame if something goes wrong.

Instead, people must take responsibility for their own actions before God, and leave the rest (e.g. other people) up to Him. The most anyone can rightfully do is model the right way to live in their own life.

The one thing Christians and Muslims have in common is that none of them are above Taking as much in Benefit from our country as possible . this is still Great Britain and those who do not Like it should get a One way Ticket to the land which suits their "Beliefs" better and stop telling the rest of us what to do and what to believe in = NOW

I am with you on the last comment, ban religion from the world stage. If people choose to follow a religion, then thats cool as everyone has the freedom of choice, but people do not want to hear about it every day.
Religion is a private thing, so it should be kept like that at all times, and kept out of peoples faces.

To all the religious people, please enjoy your religion, but everyone else is not interested as they have their own beliefs just the same as you do, whether they are the same beleifs or not is a personal matter, not for the public domain.

Well firstly, I didn't know we were at war with the Middle East, I thought we were supposed to be giving aftercare to a newly 'liberated' nation while they set their own systems on track.

As far as I understand Islam (which is only a basic concept picked up in the last few years due to having a Muslim boyfriend), Islam is just democracy by any other name (in this case in the name of God). It is said that emmigrating Muslims are supposed to take on, respect and comply with the laws of the land they enter (and therefore leave their own tribal/personal culture in the land they are leaving - or else why leave?). There should then, be no problem! However, this is clearly not felt by some Muslims (not sure to what degree) who seem to have a conquering mentality (not that the British can say anything about that with our own past behaviour). It does seem to me to be a bit of a policy to empty their own countries and take over ours thereby accidentally reducing our country to the same state as the one they are leaving (again presuming this is not good or why else do they leave and come here?). May I suggest Muslims make the countries they are leaving in to the countries they want to be staying in, or are they just after the benefits of the welfare state, free schools and childcare? This will be unsustainable in the longterm if it continues at this heavy rate. Great Britain will then have to consider a mass emigration of its own, perhaps moving into a newly emptied country (or possibly a nice tropical island with great weather please - no tsunamis or hurricanes). (Humour by the way, I am assured, is God's nearest and dearest cousin).

Perhaps the problem would be solved if we had a proper democratic system in this country to reflect the wishes of the population and not just of the self-serving people in charge (apologies to any genuine politicians if such a person exists). No-one seems to be happy about the general state of play in this country so why is nothing done? A lot of people seem to feel their only real choice is to emmigrate themselves, thereby making the situation less hopeful for those of us left behind. We need our well-off and respectable people to stay here (the welfare state needs your taxes)... (COME BACK!)

It seems to me that we need to be able to control our own country a little better and implement our so-called democracy otherwise we are little more than a dictatorship and we stand to lose what little freedom we have and so cherish. Perhaps the traditional Brit is too drunk or busy having sex or drugged up (or all of these) to bother about changing whats going on but he/she should be aware that if by chance this country did become an Islamic state their lives would not be worth living (no alcohol/drugs, freedom of speech and definitely no sex outside marriage) which is possibly the problem with those suicidal jihaddies (I respectfully suggest such people get a life - God didn't give you one so you could throw it back in his face).

So to conclude, I believe the modern world's new religion is in fact democracy which is in fact in accordance with Islamic teachings so everyone should just relax, find which nation they wish to live their lives in and decide on its laws and activities accordingly.

May I suggest freedom for all to travel the world and settle wherever they like according to the customs of the place and what they want. Certain countries can live by Sharia law if they wish and then everyone who wants to live in accordance with that can go and live there. Some people might want to live in Faliraki (never been so I can't spell it properly) etc.

I just wish love and peace to all of us (and I pray for it regularly even though I am not religious by any particular denomination) (I would urge everyone to pray for it {prayer is a tool we all have access to and we need to use it at this time - prayer circles can be joined on the internet})..........the New Jerusalem is appearing just around the corner so hold on and don't forget to enjoy the life you have been given - the next life will take care of itself - what's the rush when life is eternal.........Peace, Salaam, Shalom.

Religion and state should be seperate and thats part of the reason why religious states are so intolerant. It was the same when the church was involved in state matters in Europe in the middle ages - Inquisition etc. Your gonna get dry, flammable responses from conductiong straw polls - anyway why are you talking to dried grass??? hehe

I'm not religious either, but the way I see it, if you emigrate to a new country, you adopt their traditions. I'm not saying that muslims should convert, far from it. I'm simply saying that the muslims that move to the UK should accept our government and our traditions. Our Monarch is Christian, and our traditions revolve around Christian views. We are a Christian nation because of this. I'm not Christian, but am proud to be British, and am happy with having a Christian ruler, as is the tradition of our great nation.

Ask the Christians in favor of war with Muslims how that fits in with the sermon on the mount? blessed are the peacemakers?? Then ask them to find ONE shred of evidence in which Jesus ever condoned violence? Even if that violence was in self defense. I guess the teaching about better to lose life and gain ultimate life rather than gain life here and lose ultimate life is a throw away line by Christ.

In the UK I would prefer leaders who can lead..... I wouldn't care if they were Black, White, Asian, Muslim, Christian, Jewish, as long as they can put the Great back into Britain again and make the UK one of the most respected nations in the world again.

In my opinion, religion in this country does not factor into politics, we need decent, honest and hard working politicians who will be warriors for our schools, hospitals and communities.

To me it's simple. Maybe I'm being naive.
