If you are a trauma survivor, I would highly recommend finding a therapist who specializes in the treatment of trauma. When someone has experienced a lot of trauma, their central nervous system is constantly activated. It can be difficult to regulate emotions, and they may feel anxious and unsafe much of the time. There are various techniques that a trauma specialist can use to help discharge some of that stored traumatic energy (that lives in the body). Such techniques include EMDR http://www.emdr.com/q&a.htm and Somatic Experiencing http://www.traumahealing.com/registry.html

Remember, if YOU feel that something is wrong, TRUST that, and get help. If this does sound like you, I hope you do seek the help and support you deserve. If so, you are welcome to contact me and I will help you locate a trauma therapist in your area.

Good luck!

I don't think you overcome trauma- you can't change what happened- you learn to accept it - you acknowledge all the bad feelings the experience evoked-and you put it where it belongs-in the past-it sometimes takes a bit of effort. I suffered with a panic disorder and depression for a time. I had to teach myself how to relax and focus on breathing slowly and deeply, and how to calm my thoughts-that took some practice-it sounds simple but it's hard to do when you are scared- it really does help- I guess I just decided to stop letting my bad experience affect my today and the rest of my life- I succeeded and so can you.

Hi there" Alot", fear & trauma are both treatable with the appropriate direction to the right people & through that the allowance of assisting you to deal with your issues will become a bit easier.Personally I have gone through alot myself, as I know of others. We are all human & need help at times. The biggest step you have taken is to actually ask for help.Give yourself a huge Tap on the back.It is easy for all of us to say," yeah face your fears", yes we need to, but sometimes more help is needed to address the cause, then address the issue at hand. Our minds are very complex,as is our subconcious mind, that governs most of our thinking patterns, behaviours, etc.A helpfull next step might be to let your GP know, then if you choose to do so, go & see a Counsellor, or a Holistic Counsellor. The differance between the both is minimal, but Holistic means not just treating the problem, but actually going to the source of the problem in a very gentle and understanding way.Allowing the person to actually talk & recieve responses & execises to assist with the problem/issues at hand. I sincerely hope this has helped & I wish you all the best, all things can be assisted with the right person, or people who are trained in doing so.:) :)

depends on your fear....
trauma is hard for example I was brutalized have also dealt with murder in my family as well as incest to my child and it was hard but I wouldn't go to a shrink even though they had me go I only went once and she just didn't get it I also have a bad fear of heights and flying my husband however has gotten me on a plane albeit so drunk I couldn't walk but I will never fly again after 9-11 if your trauma was such that you want to talk to someone and don't know who or how email me and I'll give you my number and I will tell you what I did to get over so to speak.....and maybe together we you and me can come up with something

one day no one second at a time you must learn to love yourself and like who you are. Dont rush u may have to go right to the bottom before u come back up. You have to be ready to take the fear in both hands and see it for what it really is. Face it a bit at a time and i used to be afraid of dying and had panic attacks every few minutes i thought my heart was gonna stop. so one day i thought this is it i dont care anymore if i die i die if i dont i dont from that moment the panic attacks started to become less effective it took three years but now i dont have them at all
good luck

Next time you begin to feel fear kicking in just say "stop it! " If that doesn't work, years in therapy may help.
