To Whom It May Concern:
I am trying to raise food and funds for 12 local families. There are 31 adults, 5 teens, 8 children, and 6 babies. I will not go into great detail about why these people need help since each family is different, but I will list some of the reasons. Elderly on a fixed income, children with special needs, new babies, death of a loved one, job layoffs, 3 adults are going through treatment for cancer, some are disabled, and other medical problems. I have asked some of the local charities to help but so far none have been able to help with a group of this size. I have contacted some of the local big businesses but they only donate to charity groups, not individuals.
Any help with donations will be greatly appreciated. All donations will be divided up between the families based on family size and needs.
Thank you for your time.
Sincerely,
Amanda Fowler

Amanda,

Is this a project for school? I was just wondering why you are undertaking such a big project.

I have some ideas.

1) Contact local churches. Give them the information about the families. The pastors and church councils may be able to help by a "advertising" in church bulletins or letting you speak at the churches.

2) Contact the Salvation Army in your area. Ask for ideas of how the Army gets funds, supplies, etc to needy families.

3) Put a note in the newspaper- or contact the editor responsible for the Local News in your area. Tell him/her about your project. Be careful about how much information you give out. You may not want strangers coming by your house at all hours.

4) Check with your local public library. Maybe you can "team" up with the library. Patrons can drop off canned goods and supplies at a central location. The library gets publicity and you get help!

5) Notify your local TV/radio stations. Your project is considered "Good News" and you may get some media attention.

I hope these ideas help.

Good luck!

Hey,

U need to get registered as a charity first. I don't think it is a difficult process, but it may vary depending on where u r located :)
