Sometimes they slip inside, are in the wrong spot and are hard to feel. But yes, you should make an appt to get it checked!

I notice you've been having trouble with the Mirena for awhile from your other questions. If you've got four kids, and are sure you're done (and why wouldn't you be with 4?!?) then there is nothing better than getting sterilized. Talk your husband into getting the vasectomy, it's literally a five minutes procedure done right in the office. He'll whine for awhile but when he heals - Best. Sex. Ever.

Mine sometimes seem to dissappear too, maybe they were just pushed up a little further than normal. If you cant feel them, maybe try having your partner find them. If it just happened today then I would wait until tomorrow morning to check again, they may have shifted back down into reach.
I wouldnt worry unless you have sudden pain, which would mean it either moved through your uterine wall and is in your body some where (VERY rare!) or it fell out. If it fell out, it is very likely you would have felt that happen, since you didnt feel that, I'm sure its still there.

The best thing to do would be to go to the nearest planned parenthood clinic of your choice or to wherever you got your IUD. You shouldn't take uneccessary risks on your health! Go get checked out. You'll feel better when you do! Red flags are there for a reason hon!

It could be that it curved around the lip of your cervix. It could also be that it came loose and either fell out when you used the toilet, or worked its way farther up into your uterus. If your boyfriend doesn't mind, have him scrub his hands thouroughly and feel around for the string. (Chances are his fingers are longer since he's a guy.) If he freaks out about this, just call your ob/gyn and tell him/her what happened, and they'll probably want to see you to check.

Yes, you should. ASAP.
You should check them every month after your period ( I assume you have been doing this).
It could be nothing serious, but it can also be misplacement or embodiment, and both can result in decreased protection, or even worse, severe pain and/or infections. Just to be on the safe side, check with your doctor.

Yes you should. They can work their way out in some people, thats why the doctors say to always check them. Get checked now. Good luck.

Hmm, good question. I think that over time they're not as stiff as they once were, so that might make them more difficult to feel. But I'd probably make an appt anyway. Better to be safe than sorry. =)
