Ventnor is lovely with the terraced gardens. Pop into the Spy-glass Inn at the end of the beach, they do great food too. Freshwater and surrounding area is great too. I didn't like Ryde. Bembridge was a tranquil place. Osborne house is worth a look. I'm not usually into stately homes but this one really impressed me. Have a nice break.

I visited the IOW late July this year and me and my husband stayed at the Spyglass Inn in Ventnor. Its a real ale pub and serves a variety of lovely homemade meals. Its located on the seafront.
The steam railway is interesting, that is a Smallbrook Junction, which you can connect with using the mainline railway (Ryde-Sandown and combined travel tickets are available.
Flamingo Park is a wildlife park not far from Ryde and they have a variety of animals there.

Freshwater is really lovely and the walks above Freshwater Bay and Compton Bay are spectacular. Shanklin Chine is great too - i prefer it to Blackgang Chine. Have fun, it is a lovely part of the world
