They may just be testing for intelligence. Or maybe they're lacking the education in other religions to respect others beliefs. The most outspoken are usually the least enlightened or educated. It is the quiet and under-spoken that are listening and learning. The old saying usually applies. Open the mouth when not necessary and remove all doubts about the lack of intelligence.
P.S. "Aftwine" Having removed a doubt, needs to get a life!

So far the people who have said things like that are actually pagans who pretend to be muslim, and say things like that in order to spread hate about islam. So far I have seen only one provocative question which might have been from a "muslim", concerning the war between Lebanon and Israel.
I am a muslim and happy to be, and I only try to spread a good image of Islam. The problem is that those muslim haters out there don't want to listen. It's difficult to explain the beauty of a rainbow to a blind man...

primative ways of teasing? Are you kidding? Is tying a bomb to a small child and let them set themself off in a shopping area teasing? Not all Muslims are Jihadists, however, the name Muslim will soon become as dreaded and sneered at as Nazi. The radical Muslims are making it very bad for all Muslims because people tend to link them all together. They are Muslims and therefore they are murderers. The moderate Muslims should do something significant about the Jihadists otherwise we are in for a very tough few years of War.

What you say is true of all religions. I don't know why people think they are going to convert people just by professing their unending love for whoever they believe in. They think that if they quote enough from their religious text, us unbelievers will suddenly see "the light". That makes me want to convert about as much as when I see news of suicide bombers overseas.

Please observe this web page and reflect on what your religion represents in depth.

No offense to you my friend you seem like a wonderful and peaceful person but why would you choose a violent religion that allows no freedom and beheads non-conformists?
Jesus only asked for relationship and help in leading other people into relationship with him and in return offers freedom, peacefulness, and eternal life. Please join us and be part of Christ's family.
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16

Christians do that too. I think it just shows the difference between being fathful to your religion and being a fanatic about it. I think you have a lot of insight and I hope all of us can learn from it not to take ourselves, or our religions too seriously.
