I have a PC in italian running windows xp, I dont speak a word of italian, I tried to change the language to english, now when I restart the pc it tells me there is a problem due to a recent modification to the software or hardware and windows fails to start. So I need the dos command (if it exists), in italian, to restore the pc to a previous date

Well my first suggestion would be to call the manufacture of the computer and explain to them that you need an English version of the operation system. (Depending on how old the system is they very often will replace the operating system free of charge or for a small fee about $25 on average. Since every company is different you may or may not have to pay a higher price.)
If they are unable to help, then I would suggest you call Microsoft tech/software support and explain your problem to them. I am sure that someone would be able to at least assist you with the problem. If you really want to avoid all the hassle, you could just do a fresh install of Windows XP.
If not to sound like a smarty pants here, you could try to get a book/ or go online for English to Italian translation to at least help get you out of the bind your in.
