It's a throwback to their pre-domestication ancestors....They are trampling the vegetation before lying, so that grass stalks dont poke in them

They always walk round in a circle because they find walking round in a square a problem.

they walk round in the circle before lying down just to make sure that the space hey have picked is save, secure and comfy enough for them. i mean why do we turn about in our beds a few times before fallin to sleep, we fluff our pillows too. its just so they get a good sleep.

It comes from when they lived in the wild, it would break down and smooth whatever they were going to sit on, leaves branches etc.

coz they're still thinking whether to lie down, hit the sack or do they have something left to do yet before calling it a day. dogs are busy individuals too.

Not all dogs do this only one of my spaniels does. My other one and my Shepard don't. Its what has been mentioned before... pre domesticated instincts!
