Each Municipality has it's own requirements. Most are requiring at least 60 credit hours of college.(not any specific courses)Most have a test that you must pass and score high on.Your town or county hall will have all the up coming tests w/ requirements. While you are there ask if they have your states physical agility requirements. In NY the state sets the agility standards that all municipalities must pass.Arco has a good test prep book to prepare you for the written test.Study and work out and you will be on your way.Good luck.

The best way to get the most out of your question is to drop in to your local city hall and pick up a job description bulletin for the position of police officer. It will give you all the minimum requirements and the pay scale ranges. Each community may have slightly different criteria, so looking at the job description for you particular area might give you what you'd like to know.

You need 60 college credits in Political Science. If you have those, you should be able to apply anywere. Even if you are half way there, some agencies might hire you on and mandate that you continue your schooling to get your full 60 credits. You also have to pass a Psychological test AND not have any felonies on your record.
