My husband and I have learned Spanish and Russian. I

We use BOTH the Rosetta Stone (a computer program) and the Pimsleur Method (audio cd's). These two are the best things on the market.

Each approaches learning the language a different way. And I have found using both really helps round out my learning.

The Pimsleur method is super fast and the best to start with. You are given 30 minute lessons you listen and speak with. You start with basic and keep adding until you are able to have a full conversion.

Rosetta Stone will help with reading and the grammer. I found this to help complete what I was learning with Pimsleur.

If you have to choose only one.. go with Pimsleur. You will be able to have conversations very quickly.

Immerse yourself in it. Listen to music in that language, buy books in the language, read guides for helping you learn the language, get a private tutor to help you learn it, watch videos that are in that language, buy a dictionary in the language.

The more you immerse yourself in it, the better off you will be. Keep on trying, and don't give up!

Total immersion in it, if you go to a foreign country and it's the only language you hear, you'll pick it up pretty quickly. It only took me about 3 weeks in Mexico to learn enough Spanish to have a decent conversation.

sing your heart out, the fastest and efficient ways of them all. goes with the slow and sentimental songs first for a couple of weeks or maybe a month or so, which you're confidence enough with yourself to take it to the next level of raps.
believe me, my english teacher at the school use to taught all his students with this method and the basic is simple; just put some emotion into it before and in between the time you sing.
its just like expressing yourself with a rhythms. and just before you know it, you'll be singing before anyone have a chance to speak.

Listen to songs in that language and be careful to check the lyrics. I remember I once had to write a story and I used the lyrics of a song i had in my mind and liked so much. Plus, I knew it was totally correct ;-)

Have some friends speaking that language, and chat with them for hours, face to face, not in screen.
