I am planning to redo my sons room, he is 15 months old.

I would appreciate suggestions on room colors (wud like multiple colors on the walls), decorative tips and ideas for storage & play

Any suggestions on good websites would help too.

:)

I would paint the walls in a neutral color (a blue or a green) then in white I'd paint "frames" on the upper half of the wall. In the frames I'd paint cartoon characters, using a projector to trace the outlines and acrylic to fill in. I'd use a kid size table pushed up against one wall for crafts, and get a roll of craft paper and hang it on the wall for easy access. I'd get a book case and on the lower levels I'd fill shelves up with baskets to hold toys and use the upper for books ( or you can mix it up) and it doesn't have to be one tall bookcase it can be one or several bookcases. I'd get roll away storage for under his bed (I'd use a twin bed with a rail guard rather than a toddler bed).Have fun with it! If these ideas don't hit the spot than go to HGTV and look at some of the shows that have decorated kids rooms and see what different ideas and techniques were used.

One of the neatest boys' rooms I ever saw was done by some neighbors when my kids were young. The top half of the wall was covered thickly with 'mud' and patterned by dragging fingers through in a "swishy" type pattern and painted sky blue. The ceiling was painted sky blue as well with clouds painted on the ceiling. The chair rail was navy. The wainscoating was hunter green. There was a train track on shelves that circled the room about a foot down from the ceiling and the fan looked like an airplane propeller. It was a great room with lots of room for color.

Another that I've seen is taking the bottom half of the room and painting like a street curving around with cars on it and a sky with clouds/airplanes, etc.

Happy decorating!!

well the childs room should b really colourful, lively. keep very less funiture, that means it should give a open spacious look. since u r getting it redo think of the time to come ie get small small racks sort of things on the wall above the bed. right know u can decorate stuff toys nd latter can b used for books or encyclopedia.try to get the folding storage space made. one option is to get a bunker bed made, single child will enjoy playing nd when u have a second child it gets convienent, u dont have to redo it again. walls should have a plastic coating of paint so that it can get cleaned. a big window should b in d room for d natural air and sunlight. all the very best to u

How about Mickey and Minnie Mouse. How do you feel about Dora the Explorer? There are characters of both sexes in that show. Winnie the Pooh might be a good choice. Sorry it's been a few years since I've had the toddler set in my house. I would look at what the toddlers are watching these days and go with some of those.

I would theme it based on what he is drawn to, i.e., underwater world if he likes fish tanks or a baseball stadium or something like that, that way it is labor and paint not a bunch of furniture so you don't feel like you wasted you money if he wants some different in a year or so. I friend of mine paints her kids rooms however they want them every year as part of their birthday celebration. She starts that at like 4 I think, so what you do now could work for about 2 years. Good luck.

decorating a child room can b a challenge if u r on a budget.the very first thing to do is to select three colours...one is Primary...one is secondry(White Chocolate or Black) ...third is 4 highlight color for accessories sucjh as red, pink, silver n blue..when decorating make sure to match an element of each piece together...furnitur should b the same colour n hv matching handles on each piece to give a unified look even if the style of furniture is differnet.paint all miss matched furniture..

paint yellow that seems to get the childrens eyes open. they feel joy and love it. let your child put his hand in some paint and put his print on the wall. even his feet. these prints are custom and fun for the whole family to enjoy. top it off with a paper border of your childs intrest. this will look better than it sounds. hey its your childs room. let him enjoy
