My 3 year old got sent home from daycare today with 3 lice eggs - I got told the general location but as hard as I look I cant find them - I have just washed her hair in a natural lice mousse and am about to start combing but if I couldnt even find them in dry hair how do I know if I have got them all or not? Any suggestions would be greatfully accepted as Ive never had to deal with this before.

Lice....bad news. You not only have to treat your daughter, but you have to treat your whole home! wash all linens in hot water to kill them (remember, lice can live off the human body for 7 days), all linens vacuum all carpets.....also, put any of her stuffed animals that you can't wash in plastic garbage bags, seal them up, and leave them in there for 2 weeks I think....Good Luck!

I have added a resource for you, it uses Adobe. Also, CUTTING HER HAIR OFF IS NOT THE SOLUTION

First: Get a product called NIX and follow the instructions on the product. (It is easily available in supermarkets) Then make sure you wash her bedding (hot and with bleach) spray mattress and bed area with a insecticide in the morning then take the ma tress outside and vacuum it good, let it air and replace it.

If your daughter got the lice in school. Ask the school nurse how many cases there are. If there are more than three cases of head lice in that school (day care) it is an EPIDEMIC and must be reported to the Health department. The school is a public place and regulated under Health department and Hygiene regulations.
Also teach your kids not to share head gear (caps etc) hair jewelry, hair bands etc with other kids.

As for treating your kid. If you want to make sure you got all lice and eggs. Repeat the lice treatment at least 3 times, rinse good. If you can't find eggs or lice with a lice comb (comes usually with the Lice treatment) you did a good job and you got them all.
Make sure you wash and disinfect pillows and hats the kids have worn or used.

use special shampoo from pharmacy or vinegar , bring a comb , wet her hair with water and vinegar and comb . You need to do that at least 4 a week , because the chain of lice's is 6 days , i.e the egg needs 6 days to be a lice . Good luck

I have to agree to your first answer but you also have to get to the Pharmacy and get some shampoo and spray to actually get rid of the problem.

You could also try a new powder that gets rid of ticks and fleas and other horrible insects that will not go away.

This is an ongoing promblem when children go back to school or when vacationers arrive in town or city.

Just scrach her head, and don't try to kill the lice ---- You know they are the living things , and you cannot kill many lives just to have your daughter's head clean. It is unlawful by wildlife legislations. Let the lice live in their own habitate, rather if you wnat to help the small creatures you can add nutriens to your daughters head to let them grow.
