The holy spirit never comes upon no one but prophets and messengers of God....such as Moses ,Jesus and Mohammad. Its duty is to convey Gods words and messages to them. The holy spirit is the angel Gabriel.Fellow Christians believe(wrongly) that the holy spirit is part of God....which is wrong 100% ...the holy spirit ,just as everything in universe,is a mere creature made by God....one of the greatest angels.

In the book of John, it says that you are saved by faith. Because Jesus was baptized, it showed us the way to be cleaned by the water, and to be reborn into Christ. After professing your faith in Jesus and recognizing Him as your Savior, then you are baptized. The Holy Spirit comes to you after you have had a personal relationship with Christ. If you ask God to come into your heart, and for the Holy Spirit to come to you, then I feel it will come to you. It will stay with you, and never leave you. It will help you stay on the path God wants you to be on. The Holy Spirit speaks to you gently and softly, through your thoughts, and guides your ways, your thoughts, your voice, and the guidance from God in dealing with others. This happened to me only recently, when I realized was missing this, and I asked God to let the Holy Spirit come to me. It has changed my life.

Everyone is born with the Light of Christ, in other words conscience, and it helps us to know good from bad, right from wrong etc. It helps us to recognize the truth of God and invites us to do good and come unto Christ. We can feel the influence of the Holy Ghost when we go to church or read the scriptures etc, but it does not stay with us. We have to be born again; get baptized unto remission of sins and then we can enjoy the companionship of the Holy Ghost through confirmation. Apparently, the only church that has the authority to baptize in the name of Jesus Christ and give the Holy Ghost is the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. For us to keep Him with us,we need to be keeping God's commandments and renewing our covenants with God through partaking of the sacrament.

in the catholic church, you have the holy spirit after accepting christ (confirmation). But the natural sin is forgiven after baptism.
