I have a 3 year old boxer. Since he was a pup, he has been sleeping on the bed. i started off letting him sleep on the bed so he would wake me when he had to poo or pee. Now that he's older, he doesn't want to break the habit. It is my fault i know, but now i am in a relationship and it is hard for us to get comfortable because he likes to be right up against us all the time... and a queen size bed is not the best for 3 bodies.

i had the same problem with my staffordshire. She has always slept with me then i got into a new relationship, and it was my first notion to have this chick sleep on the couch, but in all fairness to everyone it would be best to get him a doggie bed which are pretty expensive. Before retiring for the night instruct your dog to get in his bed, after he obeys give him a milkbone at first he won't want to stay there but after a couple of weeks he will find his new bed liberating and gain a sense of independence.

My son's boxer does the same thing to him !
After being shoved off the bed and scolded, he will go to sleep on the floor, but once the humans are asleep, the dog is right back on the bed....closing the door is the only solution.

I had the same problem with my dog.
When he was a pupply, it was fun sleeping togther but when he grew up (father: alsacian shepherd - mother: tall boxer), there was not enough room on a single bed for both of us.
I tied a thin rope on his collar before I went to bed, which allowed him to reach the little mat next to my bed but not get on the bed. All night I was stroking his head and talking to him, but it took more than a week before he got used to this and go to sleep on the mat on his own.
Hope it will work out for you too!...

Good luck!

close your bedroom door and the dog will find another suitable place to sleep elsewhere. do you have a guestroom or something else w/ a bed in it? my dog always sleeps on the guestbed or the couch.
