The more love and attention you shower on your child, starting at infancy, the stronger and more well adjusted he or she will be. Children flourish when they are loved and cared for. I have nine year old twins, and while they are not perfect, they are not afraid to try things and make mistakes because they have been given love and support from the very beginning.

Teaching the child manners, honesty, compassion and a sense of humor. Neatness is great but the best teachings, in my opinion, have to do with character. Always encourage the child to learn and discover things by research. Teach the child that there is no limit to what he/she can accomplish if they put their mind to it. Teach the child to be a true friend and to treat everyone with respect and kindness. You will have a wonderful child and be a great parent.

Instill values and morals. If you feel you are a good person, bring them up the way you were brought up. Don't let them rule you, set boundries and rules. Listen to them, and have an open door policy. Besides, is there really a best child? No one is perfect. As long as you did you're best, there is nothing else to be done!

Say what you mean, and mean what you say is the motto I have always used. And DONT shout. Hard as it may be at some points in their life, but as soon as you shout, you have lost the battle. Be firm and fair, lots of love and praise when they do well and ignore the bad behaviour by putting them in a naughty place ie stair/chair/corner quietly for one minute per year old they are.
Good Luck!!

for all children the first few years are vitally important to form a basis for good education, morality, self-discipline and social integration. Consistency of approach, skills and qualifications of careers and community ownership have been shown in many studies to improve the chances of a child reaching his or her full potential. parents must take care during this whole period of tranformation!

you will find that everyones mother/father wants their little angel to be the best at everything, we all want that, but your child is only 8 months old. and no child is the same and no child is perfect. my advice to you is love your child, put them first and hug them alot. read to them, make time for them.teach them about God,and just do the best you can.

Tell him he is special, a God's gift. And that he is so special that God has great plans for him. It worked with my son. He is now 26, graduated from the Naval Academy in the top 10% and is now in flight school.....He feels special! And he is!!! He was a love child -I got pregnant in college and dropped out - unmarried!! Now, I've been married and have two other sons. But - say they are special from day one!!!!!!!!!
