He came to this earth to restore His people and teach us to live in His love. To build the Kingdom. And we tear it down and rip on other Christians and suspect people. I know that I came to Christ because life sucked and I found that the people of God loved me unconditionally(most of them). Why do some of you here think that you can bring others closer to the God of love by condemning what faith they have and telling them that they are dirt. Why would a muslim(for instance or a pagan) want to choose Jesus if His people are mean? (chick Publications are Mean spirited not WWJD)

I should add that My life was subsequently changed radically for the better by choosing Jesus 30 years ago and I have changed from glory to glory since then, growing more in love with my Lord every day. I never regret finding Jesus and making Him Lord of my life.

This atheist agrees with your sentiment. If Christians did less demonizing and more accepting of people who were different, I would have far fewer problems with them.
Accusing atheists of "secretly knowing there really is a God", or claiming that we just "excusing our love of sin" are massive turn-offs. No atheist is going to listen to anyone with that attitude--they'd show them the door the first chance they got.
Just as bad are people who (knowingly or no) pass off untruths as truth as long as doing so supports their religious agenda. "Lying for Jesus" is the sort of thing that would no doubt make your hero weep as well...

Well put. I am a no-longer-born-again, and I appreciate your common sense. It's true that your counterparts seem vindictive and even mentally ill: definitely not the way to win any souls. We only get annoyed when we are hit over the heads with it. Don't get me wrong; we will argue 'til the death on what we believe, but we should all know that our words are only a part of the message we send. "Whynotaskdon's" calling the Pope "poop" and outright bashing Mormonsim and Catholicism was the final straw for me. I will only laugh at him from now on.
You might want to add to your campaign for Christianity: "Get some education, read some other books besides the Bible and learn how to write a proper sentence." That is the other major factor that undermines their credibility.

I agree with you.
Human beings are being terribly ungrateful. I don't want to make excuses, but I believe that we're like that because we ARE humans. But I'm sure that Jesus loves us nonetheless and that's why I follow Him. Because He loves us unconditionally.
About the condemning things... Well, some people (sometimes myself) thinks that they're right all the time. Furthermore, I believe it's not the believer that makes the religion. No matter what religion you believe in, it doesn't change the fact that there are good people and bad people. There are bad Christians, and there are good Moslems. Religions don't always make the persons. I guess this is just what some people have failed to see. People should come to Jesus not because His people are nice (because some are certainly not), but because he/she feels Him calling.

Religion is a great paradox. People also have their interpretations of the religious movements and that's why we have the so called conservatives, fundamentalists and even the nominal ones! I believe as a Christian that I have to follow in Christ's footsteps and try to emulate Him as much as I can. All answers for Christian living are found in the Bible - the manual for Christian living. It answers all possible questions you can have. Christ says we should not judge, we should strive to work out our own salvation with fear and trembling. When will you ever have time to start condemning others. The Devil is the accuser of brethren and will make you want to live 'the holier than thou' lifestyle. Jesus came for sinners and not the so called righteous. So lets not condemn but teach with love and compassion. A true Christian loves unconditionally and that is why it is easier to walk the wider way and shun the narrow way. Thanks for your observation.

"I know that I came to Christ because life sucked and I found that the people of God loved me unconditionally(most of them)."
Replace Christ with David Koresh or Jim Jones and you'll see why Christianity is just like any other cult.
Jesus never existed. And even if he did he wasn't a very good role model. He thought owning slaves was OK and threatened people with eternal torture for not following him.
He had a lot of dumb advice too.

My point in saying this is that belief in a religion for me has nothing to do with how it's followers act. It has everything to do with what is the truth.

Well, I don't believe in the Bible (Or God of any kind), but my reasons are more about trying to do the best I can.
Other than that, well yeah how some Christians act is a constant reminder that morality does NOT come from religion.

You are right! By condemning their faith and believes and calling them dirt is not the right way to bring them close to God. You can talk to them about God, if they don't want to listen or insult you etc, "just walk away and sweep the dirt off your feet"

You bring up an excellent point here. Unfortunately there are times when we let our fingers and emotions get to work before we pray and seek out how God wants us to answer.
Even if a person insults us, we need to remember that we do NOT have to respond to a question.

When we come here to try to glorify God and set some misconception the public has about GOd, we must remember to do it prayerfully and ask for the anointing of the Holy Spirit.
WIth His anointing, what flows from our typing is from Him, not us.

I don't believe that some believers on here are on a mission to convert like some other believers but to defend their faith. Everyone will have to give in account for what they do. We will all reap what we sow and we shouldn't expect God to give us as believers a lighter punishment or judgment. We all have human flaws and shouldn't expect otherwise.
