I've been described that way. I think it means I have pretty eyes and a lot of enthusiasm.

Having a twinkle in your eye just means that you are happy. This can be for many reasons, but it is always when you are happy or eager. Often when people have just recieved good news their eyes are said to light up at the news. This is the same as a twinkle!

Hope this helps!!

If you didn't read Dahl's "Danny Champion of the World " as a kid then now is your chance to enjoy it and find out about "eye-smiling" which is related to " a twinkle in the eye". The former cannot be dissembled. The latter has an element of innocent mischief. I always associate twinkling eyes with a charming 86 year old Irish Colleen I know who acts like a 20 year old, bless her dear heart.

I agree with Emily Jane. It can mean either that they are fun/always close to laughing, or it can mean that they are feeling romantic.

If someone says something with a twinkle in their eye it means that there is another meaning.

For example "We could have an early night" said with a twinkle in the eye would mean "we could have sex"

On the other hand "I've always found him interesting" said with a twinkle in the eye might mean "he's a complete nut".

Twinkle In The Eye

It usually means he or she wants to make a baby. It can also mean they are feeling happy/sociable/euphoric.

The first meaning is probably more common from my experience (in UK). I've heard parents say that they used to do this or that before their son or daughter was "just a twinkle in their eye".
