I don't think that guys who ask are pathetic. I think some women do, but a lot of us don't.
I am old enough to know that women are a mystery to most men. My husband freely admits that I understand more about men than he will ever understand about women, and he's the one who dated a gazillion women and was a Casanova when he was single.
I think smart men ask not only women, but other men. I think they also pay a lot of attention to what's going on around them when they go on dates, or are out meeting people. I think they replay things in their minds, but don't over analyze, as love is something which defies thinking. And I definitely don't think it's pathetic to ask. If anything, it's kind of pathetic not to offer at least some help in the form of informative answers.

I don't find that pathetic at all. Unless the guy's trying to pretend to be the ideal guy for the girl being asked then it's fine to ask a girl that kind of question.

In general, I really don't think it's pathetic, I think it's sweet that you actually care.
HOWEVER, don't ever ask a woman you are interested in this question. It is kind of a turnoff, because the number one thing women like in guys is confidence, and this question kind of shows that you have insecurities. (We all have things we don't like about ourselves, but we don't have to share that all right away, you know?)

i don't think it is pathetic. but maybe some are thinking like that. if a guy ask a question like that, it shows that he doesn't have self-confidence.
