First off, here's a guy who supports youth boxing despite the warnings. He gives several references and warnings that the professionals have given about the sport and youth. Consider the risks of what you're setting out to do.

That said, certain aspects can be beneficial if limited, supervised, and with proper equipment and protection.

Martial arts programs start as young as 3, and the British class below starts at age 8. Much will depend on what's available around you.

Most coaches won't start training until an athlete is 7 years old. In order to compete in amateur boxing, an athlete must be 8 years old to register with USA Boxing.
