Video Cameras and Tape recorders are absolutely forbidden in prisons. Why are Correctional Officers so afraid that the public will find out about their abusive prison conditions of torture and filth in penitentiaries.

Why does everything the public hears and sees about prisons have to be censored?

Why do all the murdered prisoners by guards get covered up and never prosecuted.

Are the c.o.'s afraid of darkness coming to light?

Are the Officers afraid that they might too go to prison for all the crimes and abuses that they commit.

There will be no justice until Video Surveillance and Tape recorders are permitted by prisoners to publicly show what really goes on behind prison walls.

If the prisoners can't have them then they should be set up to monitor all the perimeters in order to protect society.

Most of these prisoners will be put back into society in the future and if you treat them like abused animals all hell will break loose on society when u let out.

Well, prisoner, here in Lee County, FL, every inch of the Stockade, Jail, and CORE facility in which prisoners have access is covered by video surveillance. Only the business end of the toilet is unsurveilled.

I guess you're hanging out in the wrong prisons.

I don't know about the frequency of prison abuse, I've never been there, but I believe it probably does happen.
I think video surveillance is a good idea. It should be public and would put our minds at ease. There is the issue of privacy, but I don't think it would be close enough to actually study their face...besides, records are already public anyway.

Usually if a facility does not have cameras it more than likely because of 2 things. 1 they did but inmates keep destroying them. 2 No Funding.
Did you know that 90% of all State / County facilities are maintained on a budget so small. An illegal Immigrant will receive more in public funds that 5 inmates incarcerated. Why?? No Funds!!, So in order to "make a difference", write letters, raise lots of $$$. An encourage more Kids to stay in school, to Say No to Drugs, help keep them out of trouble and out of jail...

Prisons are using cameras and video cameras. Stop making things up.

You have a problem with prisons? Obey the law like everyone else so you don't need to go there!

That's also the same reason all court proceedings need to be either shown or videotaped.

People forget that people get out of prison and you don't want them brutalized and then sent back into society.

You know your question is going to go over as well as a fart in church, right?

You're an idiot!!! I work in a prison and we have video cameras and are required to use them in emergency situations such as uses of force, cell entries, fights etc. In addition all of the housing units and yards are under video surveillance. What are you suggesting that we supply the inmates with cameras....hell they allready have tv with cable.

If you stop committing crimes, you won't get locked up & want cameras in prisons to protect all those 'innocent' people.
Prisons should be for PUNISHMENT, they should be uncomfortable and make the criminals realize they do NOT want to go back.
