I have built a pub in my garden and now want to make some cocktails that leave a stink in the tail, do you know any cocktails that are easy to make, but taste the nuts?
Cheers

I have found that the strongest and best cocktail for what you want to accomplish is a Long Island Ice Tea. Follow the directions though. If you try to make it even stronger than the directions by adding too much alcohol, it will tasts like straight liquor and you migh as well drink from the bottle. Follw the recipe below and you will be pleased!

1 part vodka
1 part tequila
1 part rum
1 part gin
1 part triple sec
1 1/2 parts sweet and sour mix
1 splash Coca-Cola®

Mix ingredients together over ice in a glass. Pour into a shaker and give one brisk shake. Pour back into the glass and make sure there is a touch of fizz at the top. Garnish with lemon.

never mind all those complicated recipes with a little bit of this and that

take a tip from the military they know the best ways to get drunk quickly on minimal ingredients!
The brandy and champagne cocktail mentioned before is a classic military cocktail - the bubbles take the alcohol into your bloodstream very fast, the sugar makes the bubbles bubble faster. Serve it in a tall flute wineglass with the sugar left at the bottom, no -one needs to drink that, don't bother stirring it in

The Horse's Neck is an Navy cocktail and is delicious - ginger ale and brandy, again the bubbles in the ginger ale take the brandy in fast. Serve it in a tall tumbler - this drink just slides down your throat so have jugs of it available on the tables

The other tip is drink any alcohol through a straw for an extra fast effect, so even a bud drank through a straw will affect you faster

Emerald Vodka Martini

1/2 oz Dry Vermouth
1/8 oz Chartreuse
Twist of Lemon

Stir with cracked ice in a shaker and pour into a chilled cocktail glass. Twist a lemon zest over the drink and float the zest on top.

"Zombie", Tijuana-style! I was there as a young lad, and had two of these shortly after breakfast one morning. Well before noon I was passed out in my mate's car boot.

From what I remember, the recipe was something like: pour a shot each of at least half a dozen different spirits and liqueurs (say tequila, rum, triple sec, vodka, etc.) into a highball glass, top with a splash of juice or other mixer (for looks, mainly!), and Robert's your dad's brother. Don't try this at home, though...

The sissy version of this has much more mixer, and is called either Long Island- or Long Beach Iced Tea, depending on the exact ingredients.

The quickest acting cocktail I know is a Champagne Cocktail.
You should really use champagne but, since it's the bubbles that do the job of getting the alcohol into the bloodstream fast, you could use any sparkling wine. So...Take a wine-glass and put in 2ozs. of Brandy add a Sugar Cube spotted with Angostura Bitters and top-up with ice-cold sparkling wine. Takes one minute to make and about 2 minutes to work.
Cheers!

Rather than recommend millions of cocktails I would recommend several books to get you started:
* Diffordsguide to Cocktails (any of the volumes - 6 so far, plus quartely updates) by Simon Difford (set up the industry's best trade magazine)
* The Bartender's Guide or How To Mix Drinks by Jerry Thomas (1862, reprint available)
* Shaken and Stirred by Douglas Ankrah (founder LAB Bar & TownHouse, London)
* Blend ME, Shake ME by Alex Kammerling (bartender/consultant of 20 odd years experience).
Apart from Jerry THomas (RIP) I know all of the above personally and have worked, drunk and trained with them and will testify to their expertise on all things alcoholic.
Other bartending greats to look up would be: Trader Vic, Don the Beachcomber, Gary Regan, Wondrich, Dale DeGrof, Salvatore Calabrese, Ed Hamilton, David Embury, Ben Reed and Angus Winchester. All of these have good books on various aspects of cocktails and spiritous liqours to aid you in becoming a cocktail gourmand!

Ever heard of a 'wranger' ? I'll explain anyway. You will need a bucket,an electric drill with a plaster mixing attachment fitted.Set the drill on hammer action.
next step-buy some cheap spirits, doesn't matter what mix as you like and pour it into the bucket. Now add the key ingredient which is lemonade, the cheaper the better! Insert the drill attachment into the bucket and wrang that mother! When it's turned to froth it's ready.
Drink (or rather) suck the froth and wait for it to hit you like a bag of hammers round the back of the head! I have never ever got so drunk so quick.Try it, I know you will!

I like jungle juice. We served it at our tiki party and everyone liked it. We put in a bottle of everclear with some sunny delite and then added pieces of fruit. The fruit soaked up the alcohol and tasted great!
I have also cut a watermelon into the shape of a basket and then soaked the edible fleshy part in vodka.
I also recommend Hypnotiq and sprite. It is also good.
