yes its a good idea and it won't get boring if you do more than just walk. I play music and keep the beat with my steps.

If you already like walking or jogging, then maybe you'll be able to keep it up. My wife was gung ho about it for a while, but it wasn't all that long before her expensive treadmill found a home in the corner of our garage gathering dust. However, her elliptical machine is another matter altogether. She enjoys it thoroughly, and has been using it regularly for nearly 8 months. Even with a tv, she got bored on the treadmill, but she'll spend an hour watching her favorite shows and never bat an eyelash while she breaks a serious sweat.
Anyway, if I were you, I'd try both in the store and see which one you like better. Sears might be a good place to start. Good luck!

Treadmills were first used in Victorian prisons as a means of teaching the prisoners that crime didnt pay. They were given repetative & boring tasks to do for 16 hours a day. This might be a clue that treadmills arent much fun! If you must buy one, then put it infront of the TV or make sure you can prop a book up on it.

It's a very expensive thing to buy if you do get bored of it. Check out the 2nd hand ads in your local paper for more bargainous ones, or you could get a trampette/ rebounder- they sell them at Argos and they're much cheaper and really good fun, the key is variety to not get bored consider classes- they're are usually very normal people in them, the same for the pool. If you make it enjoyable you're more likely to stick to it, put on you're fave CD or do it watching TV, reward yourself with some nice fruit; mango, or strawberry when you feel the need for a treat rather than crisps or chocolate, involve a friend so that you can motivate each other. Good luck and have fun!

YES, you will.
The best way is to jog /walk out in the park or your neighbourhood. The change in scenery and air will keep you at it, and it's so much cheaper.
Joining a gym will definitely be a good idea also. You can work with your peers and support each other with encouragement. Also you will be motivated if there is friendly competition going on.
My stationery bike became a decorative item, fortunately I managed to sold it off.

Why buy a treadmill when you can go for a walk or jog in the real world for free, and at the same time you will get fresh air and maybe find new people to talk to!

If you want a treadmill and maybe to save some money, do the jogging without it and in your own home.
Logically speaking, and yes I do this, you just spot-jog on a treadmill. So why not just jog on the spot in your home, at the speed and time convenient as you would on a treadmill.
It might seem strange but it's the same concept, I used to motivate myself by jogging 20 mins daily to my favourite music - so convenient and I never failed to do it.

In my experience I would say rather not buy it. If you are already doubtful if weather you will get bored with it, then the chances are that you will. Rather start by excersizing around the house. Jog through a park or down the road. If you see that you are enjoying it then consider the threadmill.
Good luck

A cheaper option would be to just go for walks around the local park.
The advantage of a gym would be that you had professional trainers there who could advise you how much exercise you should be doing.
Don't rush into things. Take it easy at first and build up your routine as you go.

Its all abt yrself. If u r a determine person, yes pls go for a treadmill, u will see good results but if u r a very easily bored person, pls do not go for it. Instead please try long walking sessions. You may take longer to see results but its nice, when u listen to music and start to walk.Good luck.
