Looking at the numbers and dealing with all the people you owe when you've lived beyond your means or made lots of poor financial choices can be really overwhemling. Don't be afraid because the only way to fix it is to confront it head on. There are people who can help you find your way out of debt, but make no mistake... you have to be realistic. It's only fair to pay the debts you have incurred, and I think bankruptcy shoul be considered as a last resort.
Consumer Credit Counseling Services is a great orgination that helps you sort out what you owe and they negotiate with the cerditors to establish lower payments. You give them a sum of money each month and they distribute it to your creditors. They call it "Your Personal Debt Management Program". Consumer Credit Counseling Services is a division of Money Management International. They really helped me get things in perspective when my head was spinning from so much debt. I highly recoment their program.

In my opinion, those credit agencies just rip you off. I work at a law firm doing real estate closings and help people pay off old debts all the time (even though it's NOT part of my job). Usually creditors will accept anywhere from 50-75 cents on the dollar if you offer to work something out with them (if you pay them off in one lump sum they will usually take less).
Credit repair agencies end up taking a commission so the extra money you save, you end up giving to them. I seen someone mentioned Catholic Charities and have heard they and a few other not-for-profit agencies DO help for free. I don't know anything about them, but they couldn't hurt I suppose.
Best thing to do is get a copy of your recent credit report if you haven't already and work on one debt at a time. Try to pay off the small ones and make payments on the larger ones.
It'll all come together eventually!! Good Luck!

Try this link. Consumer Credit Counselors are a non profit group . Credit Counselors is currently the only non-profit System wide member of the Better Business Bureau. They are affiliated with the National Foundation for Credit Counseling (NFCC), the most established and trusted credit counseling trade organization. NFCC members, often known as Consumer Credit Counseling Service (CCCS), can be identified by the NFCC member seal. This seal signifies that an agency employs the best business practices possible to ensure your funds are safe and the agency's mission is focused on you, the consumer. Their agency is also accredited by the Council on Accreditation (COA) and the Association of Independent Consumer Credit Counseling Agencies (AICCCA) . They can give you the best information on getting back on track and can even help you do this. Good Luck.

Don't be scared at all, there are ways to work around this to get you what you need while improving you credit, first the most important part is understating your credit report- A lot of people don't understand what they see, my suggestion is have an expert look at you credit report to analyze it for you IE mortgage specialist.
Some items might be duplicated, some outdated or simply some else used your social security number
Have an expert get you a fico score from Equifax, Experian and Trans-Union, take your time to understand what is there, then from there take next step of building a good credit by taking care of what needs care- Easy way is to get bandaid mortgage to rebuild you credit while establishing pattern of payment
recommendation offering Free FICO

I found a solution that worked for me. It might work for you too.
I had some pretty serious credit problems…some were not my fault and, I guess, a few were. I listened to the so-called “experts” who said they could fix my credit report and I spent money I didn’t have. I didn’t have any luck trying to get my credit report fixed.
I remember paying for the services that these Credit Repair Companies had to offer. The companies told me that they could have negative items removed from my credit reports without any problem, Yeah, right. This did not happen at all. Most of the companies wanted to charge me a set up fee anywhere from $39 to $299 for their services. Not only did they charge this set up fee, most of them also wanted to charge me from $29 to $49 monthly while they “attempted” to repair my credit report. These companies offered no guarantee that their services would actually work and, believe me, they didn’t.
I was about ready to give up when I found a lady who had been through the same thing and who had found a solution. She figured out how get all the negative items removed from her credit report within 3 months without paying anyone a penny. She developed a fast, easy, step-by-step process that she guarantees will work for everyone. She sells the complete plan with all the help and instructions for $47.00.
I know what you are thinking…”another $47 down the drain,” and that’s kind of what I was thinking too. But, I figured that since she offers a 100% money back guarantee I had nothing to lose.
Well, I tried it and it was amazing. I got all of the negative items removed from my credit report and my credit score went from 553 to 715 in only 3 months. All I can say is that it worked great for me. I suggest you check it out. You can always get your money back if it doesn’t work for you. If it works even half as well for you as it did for me you will never even think about asking for a refund.

Check with your bank or credit union. Many are happy to refer you to reputable non-profit credit counseling services (which aren't necessarily "credit repair firms") which can help you work out a budget, or advise you of the best way of getting your credit back into shape.
It will take time to get your credit into shape, and unfortunately, there are no quick fixes. The good news is, the older the bad credit is, the less it affects your credit score or your chances of getting approved for a loan.
Don't beat yourself up too much. Everyone is human; we all make mistakes. The important thing is that you're trying to get things back into shape now. Check http://moneycentral.msn.com/home.asp. There is some good information there to help get you started.

I don't know how much in the hole you are but I would try to contact trans-union and get a free credit report (it will cost you nothing call 1411 for the number or i. net). Then I would contact 1 creditor at a time ( by whats most affordable for you) and ask them to settle your account. That means they will make you and offer to pay off right then for less than you owe. I personally and doing this now. We decided to start with the largest first owed 4,800 or 5,000 company settled for 3,400 but after the big one is gone the rest will seem like nothing. Good luck I know it's hard. All mine came from divorce.

Being concerned about a bad credit history isn't the same thing as running out of money and declaring bankruptcy. Are you more worried about the mistakes you made in the past? Or that you're in over your head with bills?

dispute and dispute and last but not lease dispute them. A lilttle known fact it that were coming up on the holidays. And sind most creditors will be taking alot of credit alp`s there less likely to respond with in the 30 days. also have someone add you as an auth acct user or joint acct hold to add positive trade lines to you report. Also the statement about not beiong about to remove correct items from the reort is false it`s about what they can prove to you. trust me I did it. And you don`t have to pay anyone just dispute online everymonth after you get the reports back in the mail.

You need to check out this video on how to increase your credit score by using a 100% legal loophole. Here is the video URL: http://www.creditscoresecret.org
I was able to get to 595 from 489 in just one day and from 489 to 748 in just a few week; that's pretty fast in my book. Good luck!
