What does it mean when a person has "heart"?
All of us have heard the term, "He has a lot of heart!" at some point but what does that mean exactly? Does it mean that a person is compassionate, determined, giving? How do you define "having heart" and do you feel you have a lot of it?

it means all or just one of the things you named.... depends on the circumstances..... if in sports, it is the determination to succed...... if it is in love, it could mean, compassion, caring, etc........ but all in all it is a combo of all these things......it is the fight to succed in what ever challange we are facing at the time, or even to over come the odds against us.....God bless

Yes, it can mean compassion or determination. When a person has heart it means that they have emotional generosity and initiative. In other words, putting the needs of others ahead of his own.
That can mean different things in different situations. In a relationship it means being compassionate and understanding instead of aloof or selfish. In sports, it means determination to be a team player and not a show-off looking for the spotlight. In life, it may mean donating time and money to charities and even taking the initiative instead of waiting for someone else to ask.
Do I have heart? I don't know anymore. I used to, I think I am becoming bitter or cynical, or both. Except I'm not bitter or cynical, I still have a big heart, but I just refuse to use it at all, either for my own aggrandizement or for the edification of anyone else. I guess I should finally make a decision and be one or the other.

To me it means that the person has a kind,caring spirit,is compassionate to others,is honest and giving.They truly care about what others are going through and are willing to help in whatever way they can.To me a persons "heart" is the most important thing.

I think having heart means you put your all into whatever it is that you're doing. It's sheer determination along with a passion for something. My answer to the second part of your question is....Yep, I am a mother of a beautiful daughter, and a wife of fourteen years to a terrific husband. They are my passion, and I have absolute sheer determination to show them and tell them that I love them every day.

It means being compassionate and showing empathy....that you feel other people's feelings and try to understand what they are going through by putting yourself in their shoes.Then being brave and confident enough to do something about it.
Guess i have some heart....because sometimes you can only assist where you can or be brave to do something...but ofcourse with limits.so yeah i have a some heart.

It's more or less determination. The will to continue despite facing huge obstacles or constant let downs.
We all have it. Some people are just much more determined than others.

Heart resembles a lot of emotion, mostly referred to a favorable one..as being loving, compassionate, caring, giving etc.

it's a person who will give you the shirt off their back or will do things with out asking for fame help people in need or a person who will try his hardest to do what he thinks is right.
