The world becoming more atheistic? I can only dream. Sorry doll, I hate to ruin a good hissy fit, but what with televangelists still running rabid, holy wars committing unholy acts, and the mention of god or a placement of the 10 commandments in many major (and very many minor) governmental institutions despite separation of church and state, the world is far less atheist than it should be.

WEll sweetie i think the reason the whole issue with God became so taboo is because its not in fasion. I know that sounds weird but whenever people ask if you belive in God most people are scared to answer. Usually they say things like "why" or Ummmm "do you?" They wont just come out with an answer because they dont want to be socially rejected. I know this sounds really sad but thats what our culture generation has come to. God isnt the "cool" or "in thing" so no one is apt to saying it proudly but a few. The genre ppl have been put in that worship consistanly are considered God geeks, kind of like in highskool when you were good at something you were critisized for it. Also there is so much contraversy now that no one wants to claim somthing and be wrong. I personally claim God proudly because he claimed me but you and I are becoming far and in between.

I really dont think that the world is becomming more atheist perse. I think the world is becomming tired of all of the so called religous authorites trying to tell everyone how and what to do in order to get into heaven. I am not an atheist but I dont go to church that often because of that very thing. People get tired of being scared into doing right or contantly told what they should and should not do. And especially in this day and time when you have so many of the higher up religious figures commiting wrong doing. I think people are tired of it and are now searching for something new to fill that void and everyone thinks just because they are against God they are atheist but what if they are only against God as we have now defined him?

You are simply wrong...or maybe just simple.
Theists are in a majority in the USA and all the Asian and Muslim countries. You have a president who engages in magical thinking (prayer) and believes in invisible gods and demons, and you say we are "living in an atheist world". How likely are you Americans to elect an openly atheistic president? If a candidate doesn't thank god and say god bless America he is labeled unpatriotic or a liberal.
the real question we rational folk have, is why are we living in such a theistic world...medieval ideology in control of 21st century weaponry.

Wow! That's a new one on me. I didn't know we lived in such an atheist world. Every time I turn on the television I'm hearing some televangelist asking for money to "bless him for his new plane." Praise the Lord! Sorry, but those people are what make up the people you call atheist.

What world to you live in? Do you live in America? Americans are nearly 80% Christian. The remaining 20 percent includes Jews, Buddhists, Hindis, Wiccans, etc. This leaves only a tiny portion of the population that is atheist. I think you should start paying more attention.

I'll answer your question with one of my own. Why arent christians (myself included) living the life Christ wants us to? I know we cant stop sinning, so we cant be perfect, but their are some that just dont care how they live but yet will call from the mountain top that they are a christian. When will stop living like Rev 3, being in the middle or lukewarm. We do more damage in the middle than being totally against God. Thats why He told us to be hot or cold thats why Joshua said to choose today which God you will serve. This is why people past present and future dont want nothing to do with Christ.

Because people have choice. We have the right to choose our beliefs. Myself I don't believe what I don't have proof for but believes the possibility of a deity may exist (and no, sorry I don't believe the bible to be empirical proof after 2000 yrs of repeat translations for things to get lost and changed). As a strong Agnostic I believe I will only know the truth about deities after my death. If he is real to you then great because that is your choice.
As for Jesus of Nazareth, while I believe he was a human being that is all I believe he was. He was a spiritual fellow but I believe no human being to be divine nor the child of a deity. I think his followers elevated him to that status after his death.

No, I in no way believed in God so i don't pass over him. so some distance as surviving death and residing blissfully in Heaven in an afterlife, it is in simple terms fake convenience, it is not any convenience in any respect. not an particularly consoling thought besides, as though the Bible as Koran are to be believed Heaven is an particularly unique club and the infinitely in simple terms and loving God/Allah is sending maximum folk to Hell. i locate there is extra convenience on hand in understanding not one of the nasty components of the different theologies are actual. i locate convenience in being truthful with myself. i locate convenience interior the thought that on the top of my existence i will return to non-life and that i won't be able to might desire to be around for the top of Earth and each and all of the actual universe. I do admire the experience of community that many churchgoing human beings have, yet church is barely one among the places human beings discover community.

I strongly believe with all my heart I'm going to win the lottery.
My chance of winning the lottery is far greater than the chance Jesus is ever going to return.
