I find it quite fascinating how I said MEXICAN-AMERICAN and some of you that respond right away start talking about illegals and what part of illegal I don't understand.. oh believe me, i know the difference...... see what I mean? Some people assume right away that because I speak of Mexicans, it must be illegal right? haha.. WRONG! I'm as American as any of you other Americans that try to belittle me...Actions go right along with my talk... :)

And don't get me wrong, I still think it's wrong how some of you disrespect the immigrants... but don't worry, many of them have (American)children that are going to college and will make their family proud :)

The Mexican race deserves respect just like any other race. Some people generalize and stereotype and they think every individual acts, thinks and behaves the same way if they are Mexican. My father is Anglo-Saxon, my mother Mexican and I can see good things in both cultures, in both races. I was born in the USA but I think learning about other cultures, other races, and other nations makes life very interesting. I often wonder why do more Mexicans have respect for other nationalities and many Americans don't have that same respect. Now I am not talking about illegal immigrants, I am only talking about the race and the nationality.

Sorry, if you feel you are a voice for the unheard voice of all Mexican-Americans, then you are sadly mistaken. First, If you think having a title or an important job will give you respect, then you will never understand what respect is about. Second, you demean what those who have come before you have done by saying "It won't be long before you see ... to our society" How offensive you are to your own people! Last, people who cry "racist" are the ones who see only color. Don't get me wrong. It is still out there, but we have got to rise up to overcome. Don't stoop down and join in it.
You don't get my point. You are no martyr. You can't be the self appointed voice of our children. How vain. I don't want someone to be the voice of my children who has something to prove to the people she is resentful to. My children will have their own voice because that is what I will teach them.

I heard an interesting statistic last night on the news. It said that illegal immigrants have paid over 20 billion dollars into social security in the past 10 years. How is that, you might ask.

They are not here legally, so they counterfeit social security cards so they can get work... Local, State, and Federal taxes are with held from their checks, just like you and me... The only difference is that they will never see the return.

I would like to ask, Has everyone in this country forgot where they and their families came from???? It wasn't here!

If you want to focus just on Mexicans... OK lets look at them!
Generally hard working people
Family oriented
Religious
And these people know how to have a Bar-b-Que!

I welcome our Mexican neighbors... south of our border and the family next door!

Not all of Mexicans are on Welfare that is not the problem. The problem is the ones that are are using their legal childs status (anchor baby) to recieve welfare for an entire family of illegals. The rate of Illegal Mexicans on Welfare is like three times higher than all other races combined.
Illegals unwillingness ot work is not the problem. The problem is that if given amnesty they will be eligable for more government programs and the rate of taxes they pay will be lower than the government funds they will be using because their wages tend to be low due to their low education and lack of skills. The annual deficit they creat will actually rise 19 billion dollars a year if amnesty is granted. And the newly granted amnesty citizens will all be working and not on welfare but it will still rise.

You're shallow, How about Mexico City being the most overpopulated city on earth. Why don't you get mad at the fact they overpopulate here and what that does for our future generations. Why don't you look at the statistics that say how violent these illegals are and how that's only getting worse or is that the major contributions you were talking about? What about trying to get Spanish (not even their native tongue) as another language and the dollars that will cost. This could go on and on. I don't have problems with Mexicans, but I definitely do with illegals and that's what most are these days.

Many of the Mexican-Americans I know are going to college or have their own businesses. I got my last eye-exam and great glasses from a Mexican-American. Don't worry about foolish stereotypes; we all have to live with those one way or another.

YOu know that is fantastic!

I wish them well. As Mexican-Americans I am assuming that they are here legally as opposed to illegally (as in committing a crime by trespassing).

As an American citizen who has payed taxes for an entire life I expect those here illegally, and wish to attend public schools, to pay back taxes retroactively for their entire stay. Why should I fund their education? After all they're not all on welfare, or are they?

And to add on:

If you're here as and an American citizen you're no longer a Mexican American. You're an American. THIS IS NOT MEXICO. It never will be.

TO add on again:

IF YOU'RE HERE ILLEGALLY AND NOT PAYING TAXES YOU ARE ON WELFARE.

This is an easy concept. No Payo Taxeso=Welfareo.

I agree totally with the first portion of your answer as Mexicans (I am not) are some of the hardest working people I have ever known and when you befriends one he/she would take a bullet for you.
