yes, you can get it without, on the West Coast Safeway Supermarket carries a rindless brie that's trimmed for the queasy. However, even the "ripe" bries they have are mighty wimpy...

if you want to know what real brie is, try a ripened one, rind and all, since it made to be eaten that way. get it at a real cheese merchant, and then you might understand why the rind is left on the cheese...lol

its fungus mold, but its edible, some people like it, my husband eats it if its not too brown.
Brie when its really runny and ripe - yummmmm
but no, you can't get it without, the brie would dry out and be ruined, thw white crust protects the brie from becoming spoilt and dry

it is possible to make brie WITHOUT the mold, but they spray mold spores on it anyway

Actually mold. It's part of the aging process. If you get it cut in wedges & wrapped in foil, the mold will be cut off prior to packaging.
