Soda water is free of any kilojoules and therefore more suitable than alcohol or juices or mixers, if you are trying to lose weight. Soda water does contain sodium (ie. salt as bicarbonate) but the amount is not as great as in some mineral waters. Sometimes people need to restrict soda water if their organs are accumulating too much fluid as in the case of cardiomyopathy or renal kidney failure or hypertension. Assuming you are healthy then you need not worry about soda water. It is correct in thinking that those that sprinkle salt on food after cooking would probably be receiving more sodium.

Soda water contains salt. We all need some salt in our diet, so in general I would not consider soda water to be harmful to an otherwise healthy person. However I think it’s sensible to drink mostly ordinary water.

There are some circumstances when a low salt diet is advisable, such as for people with high blood pressure or kidney disease. They would be better off avoiding soda water.

Are you talking about carbonated water? If so then yes, in the aspect that carbonation lowers calcium absorption. However, carbonation also thins your blood which can be beneficial. It's also bad for your teeth. Overall, it's always better to drink water, but carbonated water is still much better than normal soda.

Soda water is just ordinary water with Carbon Dioxide dissolved in it.

This makes it very dilute Carbonic Acid which is what gives it that nice sharp taste.

It has no fat or calories and is harmless.

Only if you drink too much of it, drown in it, or try and replace your blood volume with it.
