hi, my name is anne and i need help. if anyone is like a psychologist or anything pertaining to that field, please help me. this is just a brief description of what just happened. I made my mom mad by staying up late to finish my homework, and she came to my room and threw my cabinet down on the floor (with all of my precious things inside) the top half broke into shreds of wood, and yet still, in her rage, takes all of my clothes, previous school awards, tapes's drawers and flings them across my room. i am horrified, b/c she has never done THIS before. i mean, wth? she only used to scream at me and now, all of a sudden this? omg i'm even crying as i type this. is for further details, is anyone here a psychologist or knows how to help me? i know this is more like aplead for help, other than a question, but someone please....my mom is becoming a psycho all of a sudden. and she was screaming at me in a voice that i have literally never heard before. so anyone?

You are in a scary situation. If she has not calmed down, and you feel you are in physical danger, you should call a relitive or trusted family friend or the police. It is important to protect yourself.

If she has calmed down, you have to understand that she probably had something go very wrong today. It has probably got very little to do with you. If this ever happens again, you need to protect yourself by getting out of the house (of course, DON't walk around at night by yourself). Go to a friend of the family's house.

Hi Anne! I am so sorry about your mother scaring you the way she did. Take a deep breath...my guess is she is not that angry with you, something else must have triggered this reaction. Either she is at her wits end with you because of your recent behavior, or she is very upset about something that has nothing to do with you. Stop doing your homework, turn off the light and go to sleep, it sounds like you are up past your normal bedtme, don't give her a reason to get more upset. Go to bed. Approach the situation cautiously tomorrow, and if necessary tell someone at school, or a close adult friend that you are concerned about her recent behavior. Your safety is your biggest concern, so if you feel you are in danger at any time, you can always call 911 for help. When a parent is out of control it is scary, you have a right to feel secure and safe in your own home. Things will be ok, just take care of you honey.

I don't think the problem is yours calm down I can imagine how you feel the thing is how old are? How old is your mum? For your mum to fly off like that I wonder if she is going through the menopause it can be a very cruel time for some of us it can get so wretched we don't recognise ourselves. What about Dad? I would imagine your mum is full of remorse it's a terrible thing to have done to you. I hope you have another member of family near by brother ... sister.... aunt ... uncle just some one to talk to I hope you can recover most of the things that got thrown and that they are not too badly damaged. Well I hope this helps it's a pity you were not able to tell me your age any way here's a hug be strong.

My mom lost it when i was 8 wich is more than 20 years ago. By reading your story, i recognize my mom doing that when i was a teenager. Yes it could be menopause but it could also be a deep depression that was sleeping for too long. She need to see a psychologist before it's too late... They will probably give her some medication for the nerves. Good luck and I understand you a 100%.

Hmm, that's a hard one, by your previous question you are probably a teen and a lot of teens give their parents hell. So I wouldn't dare badmouth your mom until I knew both sides.

You really need to talk to someone. If you do not have an adult relative you can talk to, then talk to your school counselor right away. Bless you!
