Two days after the test the nurse said I was negative - I only had some redness. Now (8 days later) I see and feel a hard bump where the test was given. It also itches.

It would be quite rare for the tb skin test to be negative at 48 hours, then become positive after 8 days. There are specific reasons for reading the test after 2 days. The swelling must be of a specific diameter and height for the test to be positive. You can be re-checked but I have a feeling you are scared for absolutely no reason. You are probably experienced a very localized reaction that has nothing to do with the skin test. Positive skin tests do not have "hard bumps". The raised area is red, swollen, may itch, and is soft to the touch. But, the itching does not mean the test is positive by itself.

get another TB test. Then see if there is a bump 2-3 days after it is given. A positive won't be a high bump - it will be like a misquito bite.

If I where you, I would be calling the Doc asap. There can be at times irritations linked to bandages, tape, and rare occasions where at the site of the test an allergy develops. But even after 8 days, I would have to advise you to go to the Doctor, you can never be to safe... Best Wishes & Good Luck....
