I'm asking for the stereotypical christian. This is basically a public opinion poll.

Negative or positive, what words come to mind when you hear "christian"?

Christian defined as: Having asked Jesus Christ into your heart.
Not Christian defined as american. -.-

I can think of a few words for american: stubborn, greedy, self-centered... (and i'm a proud american myself o.o...hate to see what the people who really hate us would say ;) )

i think of a person that is terrified. terrified of what might happen if they make their own decisions. a person that blames all of their problems on god or the devil, instead of looking inside themselves or their actions to find the cause. a person that will stab you in the back when given the chance. a person who goes to church every sunday, but parties hard all of the weekend prior. a person that judges everyone and everything, deciding for all of us who is bad and who should be killed and such.

in my life, some of the worst people i have ever had the misfortune to meet have been christians. i sometimes wonder if they are indeed the evil ones, and all of the athiests and agnostics are actually the good people. just a thought...

What up startoshadows?

i think of:

servant- a Christian is supposed to serve others like Christ.
love- a Christian is to love others with the love of Christ.
Christ- since a Christian is one who follows Christ.

hope that helps,

Nickster

I think it's not applicable. I was raised in a Jewish household. Both my parents are Orthodox Jews. Just imagine the grief I'd get from my mother if I ever told her I didn't believe in any of it.

Well, when I hear "christian", I don't think "Christian", I think "Christ". As far as actual initial reaction to "Christians", it's usually negative, unfortunately. I'm prone to thoughts like "Oh, what are they complaining about now?"

Positive, I think of the way that God has changed my life and the life of the people around me and I can't help but thank God everyday that he found me. I smile when I think of my Brothers and Sisters at church who support me, and especially when I think of my Pastor who has always been there for me.

A glowing ball of positivity is what comes to mind when I hear the word Christian, though I would prefer Child of God. :) or Redeemed.

Someone well-meaning but misled who is going to tell me things I know are highly unlikely or impossible with the conviction that they are true and I should believe them, too.

Unfortunately when I hear someone say they are Christian I automatically doubt it until I know them better. I am Christian and I've met other Christians that really aren't just by their actions.
