As a vet I can tell you you got something kiddo.
However, the life would get wasted no matter what (military is killed in larger supplies in the U.S. believe it or not... aka car accidents od on alcohol) The emotional damage is what sucks for us. Separation from family was what sucked for me. And I have to say that the reason the Iraqis are being blown up right now is because they are being pacafists. You know what would happen the 2nd time you blew up a mall here. Whatever ethnic group would be kicked out or killed. This is Vietnam all over again. We are fighting for someone else's freedom, and they are kind of ok with that. Bush has it wrong. We stand down as they stand up is Vietnamization all over again. They stand up as we stand down. THat is the way it should be going, and if they don't do it, then they are screwed. They have to get some balls and fight for themselves instead of letting terrorists live in their cities and blow them the hell up. IT IS CIVIL WAR TIME!!! LET THE SHIA WIN!!!! The problem there ( and the reason it hasn't escalated to that) is because we don't want shia running the country cuz they will support IRAN. So we don't let civil war break out, trust me reversal and you got a civil war. Anyways, you remember this stuff when you are 18 and old enough to vote (if ur there already sorry) and vote for the poorest son of a ***** on the ticket. He'll be your best president and lets not let this happen again

The military is one of best ways for someone to recieve the college education. The military will completely pay for your post secondary education.
About the oil and Iraq, research how much oil France, China and Russia were getting before the invasion and how much they stood to gain after sanctions were lifted. That is why they vetoed an invasion. I will let you discover this on your own because it will mean more then. The book UN Uncovered (I think that is the title) is a great place to start.
You are free to believe that it is a waste of money and lives, and it is good to have dissenting opinions as long as they can be supported by facts. If you believe that the US should stay out of world affairs, fine. But history shows that each time we attempt to stay out of the world's affairs, the world likes to involve us in their problems. We could try again and it might work, but probably not.
You say we keep making more enemies, but most of enemies were enemies before Iraq or 9/11. More individuals may dislike us, but that has to do with a lot with baised media coverage. There was a beheading the same week as the Abu Graib scandal, but from the reporting, you would think that a bag over someone's head is worse than beheading a human being. I understand that the US is supposed to always do the right thing, but there is not moral equivalency between the two. Abu Graib was bad, but it is not even close to as bad as the execution that was witnessed.
As for the Mission Accomplished banner (which you seem to be alluding to), it was actually requested by Gen. Tommy Franks, because the internation community would not get involved until major combat operations were over. He wanted more international involvement. He has stated that if he knew what the political consequences would have been, he would have never requested it.

Chris - great to have you submit your opinion! I could stop here because in other countries what you just did is, in most cases a death sentence for voicing you're opinion against a government. I thank you because now I know my nearly 24 years of U.S. Military VOLUNTEER service must have helped the freedoms you and I and our fellow Americans enjoy. I am proud of the fun I have had taking food, medical, and other humanitarian supplies to needy people around the world. INCLUDING THE US. I think I actually had it easy compared to other generations that went through a hell we may never know. We are not perfect but the alternatives could be worse. Think of WWI without modern essentials. The cold, mud, lack of a supply chain like today delaying food and medical supplies. Spend one rainy, chilly night in the woods with just your normal pullover shirt pants shoes etc. Keep the car nearby. But just out of curiosity if you or other readers have not tried something like this, see how long it takes before you say "dam forget this" or at least honestly think that but may tuff it out one night. Vietnam - Many problems here but we learned and we did what our country asked. I was right at the tail end when just a few US military where coming home. I was proud to be in the service but I was shocked at how some of my boss's where treated and the stories of how our free American society treated the soldiers that protect those freedoms. Any loss of life is regrettable. But I would die for Americans Like you. I could go on but I have a regiment of medication I need to take before going to bed KNOWING my brothers and Sisters are watching over my family and I. Sleep Well America. Your Armed Forces NEVER sleep! Good Night John Boy........

Agree with you 100%, but America has never been under attack before, and the idea of fighting terrorism is like fighting with the weather, so they had to find a place to fight it on...Afghanistan was good and needed....most countries supportted the US, but as a Canadian, I am proud we stood up against Bush and declined the offer to help in Iraq...it is probably the single biggest mistakes in all US history to have gone into Iraq when Saddam Hussein posed no threat agains the US....
I really do wonder about the conspiracy theory ideas...that war is big business and big business needs war...
A Canadian....we're bring home lots of body bags from our troops efforts now in Afghanistan...we have the same debate here.

whilst the conflict in Afghanistan began we had a sparkling decrease objective, doing away with Bin encumbered and his team. as quickly as we First went into Iraq it became right into a conflict in accordance with blind faith, paranoia, and erroneous Intel. I thoroughly trust us going into Afghanistan, besides the fact that I disagree with Iraq. The Iraq conflict has hit me very stressful because of the shortcoming of an exceedingly sturdy chum who became into serving there besides as additionally having kinfolk stationed in united states of america besides. Iraq became right into a conflict that could have been prevented fairly actual if shall we are turning out to be Saddam to end posturing and appearing like a great shot. it could have been prevented additionally if our president might have prevented leaping the proverbial gun on the invasion. If the two might have basically allowed the U.N inspectors to return for one final finished on no regulations inspection....properly I clearly desire that the conflict might have been prevented. Granted i'll confess that Saddam became right into a awful oppressor who's atrocities have been properly wide-unfold long in the previous Bush grew to grow to be president and he did need to be taken down. by making use of the way, i will disagree with the present conflict. yet i'll by no skill say something that is going against our squaddies. ~Nuff reported

If it's over, someone should tell the Iraqis. The war does not in any way protect the USA. It is costing a lot of American & British lives & many billions of tax $s which is being funnelled into , among others, Haliburton, Cheney's old friends. While the young die, these bastards are cleaning up. If supporting them is someone's idea of patriotism, boy did your founding fathers get it wrong.
The main financial terrorist financing is coming from the Bin Laden family in Saudi Arabia, & the Saudi Royal Family, who are all close personal friends of the Bush family. Have you notice how Bush is now cooling to the idea of catching Bin Laden. Pity the poor marine if he captures him.

First of all young man you have no business making the call of who is mature and who is not. You do have a language issue, and if you have to resort to cursing to express yourself you need to returm to school and study Englishh, as that is the language we speak in this country.
Secondly contrary to liberal trains of thought we, meaning the United States import not more than 5% of our oil from Iraq, if that but factually China, Russia and France DOES get oil from Iraq. That is why they refused to sanction the initial incursion into Iraq. Secondly Saddam Hussien WAS the weapon of mass destruction- do you not count over 300,000 people killed by him as cause to remove him? Third it is a fact that he did support terrorists- even the liberals their beloved Bill Clinton said that Saddam must go. Read the records, it is there. So also said Al "I invented the internet" Gore, Madelin Albright and God forbid so did John "Flipp-flop" Kerry and the senator from New York herself, Hilary Clinton.
That is not to say that "W" has made all the right moves either. He halted major operations before the full mission was accomplished. He should have gone in and cleaned house in the Sunni areas, but stopped because of the liberal left's pressure. The major source of troubles now in Iraq is from the Sunni trainangle or outsider jhihadists from Egypt, Iran, Arabia or other Arab countries. Their people are not our friends, and have a stated purpose: to kill all westerners- that means you too.
Now, since we are in Iraq, there has been not a single attack on our soils, although on our troops in Afganistan and Iraq yes it happens in war zones or police zones, people will be injured or die. Nobody wants to see our soldiers, Marines, or sailors die. They joined the services to serve, knew the risks up front; it is called the armed SERVICES with just cause.
We have been attacked by Islamist radicals numerous times, state-side and abroad without much of a response if any- until Bush. These people only understand one thing: power. If you have more power than they and are willing to use it against them you have no problems, but if they preceive you are weak they will exploit that to the hilt. That is the history of such terrorists, who I hesitate to call people as that implies they have humanity in them.
As for the killing, it is Sunnis killing Shiites killing Sunnis. It is the exception not the rule when an American kills an Iraqi civilian. Making enemies? The world is jealous of us because we are so successful. That is nothing new. We emerged as a major power after WW2 and the sole super power after the fall of the Soviet Union which you are too young to remember. Being politically correct will get us all killed. We must play to win, because they are!
And if these Islamist get hold of nuclear material, they will use it on us and others, be assured. They were chanting "Death to America" when Jimmy Carter was prez. Iran is keeping things stirred up to cover what they are developing- nuclear weapons. And they have vowed to destroy Isreal, who has never threatened Iran. Yet that refrain is chanted through the Muslim world. Do you not read the newspapaers, watch news on TV or listen to the radio? Listening to too much rap crap? Even CNN reports that.
The governments job is not to educate you, that is your parents job. It is governments job to protect you and that they are. If you went into the service, you will get educational opportunities paid by the military as consideration for your time itn the services. I can support that. I also can support a draft wherein all kids go in for a min of 1 yr after high school and if they drop out mandatory 3 yrs.The military has straightened many a kid out that lacked direction and common sense. Would have been good for me, too.
BTW: did you know that 70% of those in the military vote Republican? Scarey huh that Democraps and liberals who suffer from mental disorders (according to Dr. Mike Savage and their actions) give lip service to your "rights" but give little to no service to protect it in the armed srevices. And a large percentage are re-enlisting on their own. But if you listen to the liberal press or TV you only get part of the truth. There is a passage in the Bible that says: Seek and you will find." and another that says that "You shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free." Think about it. Research it before you spout out the crap like you opened with. Use you head for something other than a hat rack and take some ExLax, that will help clear your head and subsequently yoru thinking.
You asked for it. Now suck it up and take it like a man. I will appologise fo my mispelled words or messed up sentences, as my eyes are not what they use to be.
