Why does it have to be letter.. its better to do it in person or in a conversation.

It would help if you gave us some backround information on why the need for a break-up. But since you didn't...I generalize.

I feel terrible for not being able to sit down and have a heart to heart. I wish I could go about this differently, but under the circumstances, this is what I feel is the best way to go about this. ______, I'm sorry but I can't stay in this relationship any longer. Its not what I signed up for. Things don't work and before we begin hating each other for our differences, I would rather put an end to it and hope we can salvage some type of friendship. I don't want to be spiteful, say things I am going to regret, so I am just going to apologize and hope that one day you will understand.

You only need a letter if it is impossible to confront the person face to face. You must have had feelings at some point, to be in the situation that you are now, so be a friend to the person that you are breaking up with - talk to them. Do unto others as you would have them do unto you!
