Coming off any med requires a closely monitored plan from your psych or GP.
My psych brought me off of 450mg/day of Effexor in 1 week (I don't see him anymore). This resulted in me being in a wheelchair for a fortnight, as I could not stand.
If you come off this drug too quickly, it WILL mess with you. Regardless, the side effects will leave you eventually. Make sure you have a strong support team around you, and see your GP/psych regularly.
Up to about 3 months after my withdrawal I was still experiencing jolts (like little electric shocks), shakes and sweating.
I feel for you, and honestly send you best wishes. This is a tough time, but you will come through it and, from my experience, being off Effexor is a positive thing!
Cheers.

Effexor usually take 6-8 weeks to get into your system but leaves very quickly but hard core side effects can last days, especially if you are going cold turkey which you shouldnt....long time effexor user.

I've been off and on effexor for a few years now and it takes about a week or more for it to stop affecting me.

Wow, I feel for you. I started taking effexor in 2003 when my mom passed away and tried time and time again to get off of it...Then when I shared with my doctor that I tried to cut the pills in half ..then down to a fourth, she really got upset with me and upped my dosage!!!! Go figure...anyway, I'm still on them and even if I go one day without one I start feeling dizzy and if I bend over quickly I almost pass out. I don't know if there is an effective way to go off of them. Really.

You have to taper down to get off of Effexor without weird physical and emotional stuff.
I know it sounds repetitive, but see your doc, and see if he/she will help you taper off the Effexor while replacing it with something else, which you may be able to quit easier.
