I have been considering tooth veneers for some time. I have a very noticable space between my front teeth which I am very conscientious about. I try not to smile with my lips apart. I had braces as a teen and my teeth looked great for about 6 years.
Slowly my space has come back and I have been living with this for 20 years now. I have seen lots of great results in magazines and such, but would like to know if anyone has had a bad experiance with veneers. This is going to cost about $5 grand so I want to have knowledge of the bad as well as the good before I spend my savings.

Dear 'Together420yrs',

I had a similar problem as you do and decided to get veneers and I am REALLY HAPPY that I did,

Here some are tips on how to get the best treatment:

#1 - You do NOT have to get veneers on all of your teeth.
I only did my middle two and people tell me I look
fabulous.

# 2 - Here is the trick to doing just the two front teeth:

Have ALL your teeth bleached professionally
BEFORE you get the veneers -

get your teeth down to the lightest shade natural for
your own teeth ( REMEMBER !Nature did not give
anyone 'blazing' WHITE teeth - they look FAKE ).

I bleached for a month PRIOR to
having my veneers put on
and then
matched the veneers to my real teeth; -
by doing this process I nowl look natural

Then after you get the veneers you can
about every tree months
'touch - up' bleach AT HOME
for one session ( one hour)
.

If your dentist is reputable you should be able to keep
the 'custom-created' bleaching 'trays' you used for
your initial 'bleaching' and then
buy more bleach from his
office when you need it to keep your teeth white.

# 3 - Veneers will change how you eat -
You MUST NEVER bite directly into anything if
you want them to last. -
I now cut apples etc. with a knife -
AND
If you eat bluberris or drink red wine
then rinse your mouth out right away

# 5 - The expected life span on veneers is fifteen years
if you treat them with respect.

REMEMBER - If a veneer falls off - THEN FIND IT
and SAVE IT -
your dentist can glue it back on AND that will
only cost a very little amount of money -
Where as if you lose the veneer ?????????
I am afraid you get to pay for a new veneer. ) UGH !)
So you want to find that lost veneer no matter where
you have to look for it - and then clean it with alcohol
and take it to the dentist to be re-glued.
How do I know this stuff ?
I have a friend who did not treat her veneers right
though she did find her veneer that had come off
and was able to take it to the dentist to be re-glued.

Well I hoped this helped. I REALLY like my veneers !

My very best wishes,

Karma doll

As your dentist to do a "mock up" on models to show you what is actually attainable with veneers. No problem.
