He is right!
Close your eyes and taste it! That might convince you.

I don't like to eat pink meat. After I watched a cooking show, I learned that when you take meat off the heat it will continue to cook for 5 minutes. So now I order my steaks medium well, there is usually no pink. I now can eat a steak that is medium rare. You should remember that a tender steak is rarer. Hope I helped.

I personally will only eat meat that is cooked medium well (no pink in the middle), and well done.
I'm not sure what an old shoe tastes like, but if it tastes like I like my steak, then I guess I'd like the flavor of them too...lol...because that's the flavor for me and I'd tell him just that too. Because the thought of meat in my mouth prepared any other way makes me sick.

There is never going to be an end to this debate, and that's fine by me! My coworkers and I were just arguing about this the other day.

I like mine medium well, and if you want to try something else then that would be where to start-- it's just one step down from well done so it may be something you like. I don't like my meat to be red or pink either, it just grosses me out and I don't like it.

However, I see no reason to change how you eat it! If you like your steak well done, then eat it well done and let your husband eat his however he likes it! Everyone has different preferences and that's a good thing.

Yes, well-done steaks do taste like bad shoe leather. I tried eating well-done steaks, and I lost my appetite for them. Finally, I came around to my senses and went back to ordering medium-rare steaks (medium-well has a chance to be too well). I got my appetite back, and I stopped having a craving for shoe leather.
I would highly recommend trying a medium rare piece of steak to compare. Unless you have a thing against red meat, I think you will enjoy it better.

i like my steak medium well because with well done steaks, it is pretty much burned and it is extra dry. when you cook a steak medium or medium well, there is still flavor in it and medium well steak is not enough to make you sick. i like a little juice from the steak and it does not mean it is all bloody

hmm, and you prefer the taste of a shoe?

I have to agree with your husband. After years of my dad's burned steaks, I stopped eating steak completely. Then one day at a business lunch I found myself (accidentally) with a rare filet mignon. Wow. I kicked myself later for not trying one sooner.

Maybe next time you should make him a nice medium-rare steak and you can burn yours? Or burn a chicken? Beef jerky? Is there some reason you want to torture him with burnt shoe?

I was afraid of the bloody steak before, couldn't eat anything but well done, but one day I tried medium... never went back to well done again...

Why should YOUR steak need to fit your husband's taste? Eat it the way you like it and let your husband eat it the way he likes it. Is he such a control freak that you must eat your steak the way he likes it, or are you so codependent that you can't have your own opinion?
