Well, I think HIV tests should be taken whenever you have unprotected sex. When you have unprotected sex you leave your self open to infections and diseases like HIV. But instead of going down and getting a test every week, I would simply try using protection next time.

It is a good idea to get tested 6 weeks after your last "risky behavior. It can be best detected from 2-6 weeks. 6 weeks being when it will definetly (99.9%) be detected if it is present. Make sure you have no other risky behavior in those 6 weeks so you can be sure. Go get tested though. I just recently got tested after about 10 years of worrying. It is extremely relieving to know you are negative. Besides, AIDS is not a death sentance anymore either. Get tested the sooner the better....
P.S..Get tested every 6 months after that. Why not , it is free....

Initially you take one, then another in 6 months, and another after a year from the first test.
It doesn't show up for a year or more sometimes.
You should be protected with each partner, but if in question get tested BEFORE sleeping with someone new.
You should be asking for your new partners test results, which, of course, will spur them to ask for yours.
Or, wait till marriage.
