I have been chatting since Sept 1996 and have met 10 people, All were great.

What is YOUR story?

Be detailed...I love to hear of other's experiences from this.

I would especially like to hear from over 50ers (is that a word?) but feel free to respond however old you are.

Thanks!

I've met lots of online friends, but you never really meet someone until you meet them face to face. The Internet is "anonymous", and lots of people just create online personas with varying motives ... some just to live out a fantasy, some to make some sort of point, and others to stalk their prey. Be careful.

I met a guy online by Yahoo Personals, and in the present day is our 4 300 and sixty 5 days anniversary. in simple terms met in a public place the 1st time, because of the fact there are some unusual ones accessible.

I have been on quite a few cyberdates and I have a 99% failure rate! There are some real creeps out there who flat out lie on their profiles! One guy said he was a nonsmoker--he'd quit that day! One guy told me over dinner that he had no bowels! One guy with a massive cold sore wanted to share an appetizer--as if!!!! A few have been overweight and they not only ate their food but mine as well and then wanted to split the tab! One guy wouldn't smile, then when he did, he had rotten teeth and he drove a Porsche! Most are cheap. Some are actually thinking sex is an option! One guy had great potential until I got into his car and it was FILTHY! Another with potential had a great everything and I fell for him big time and then he moved to NY! That was my 1%--so much for Internet dating. My therapist says that only 1% of these dates hit the jackpot! You'll have better odds playing the lottery. But good luck.

I have met three. Two were great but got weird on me. Maybe it's easier to pull away and not have to offer a good reason when most interaction takes place via text on a screen. You're somehow not quite real, therefore not subject to hurt from rejection (yeah, right!). The third is nice and seems halfway normal. I think this is rare. It's easy to hide a lot in the crevices of cyberspace and never be found at for what you really are. Same goes for that other guy/girl.

Yes, YES, Yes, and YES

It's a long story but..

- I was 13, he was 15.
- We talked online for 2 years before moving on to the PHONE
- We talked on the phone/online for 2 MORE years before meeting
- 2 months after meeting I had graduated HS and moved to California to live with him and go to college with him
- 2 years after THAT we are engaged and getting married next year

I was in love after a couple of months.. Not deeply. But in love. It took him a bit longer. And it took a few years getting closer and closer talking more and more each day.. By 3 years it was VERY serious..

But this was all because we were young.. I've known of adults that moved MUCH faster.. Met online.. Met in person after 2-3 months.. married after 2-3 years.. So it is possible.

I loved him with all my heart before I had ever seen a picture of him.

I believe meeting someone online can be BETTER than meeting someone in person or at a bar because you are NOT basing your love on their looks.. It was THREE years before I had a picture of my fiance.. He was embarassed because he was overweight .. but that whole time he didn't know I loved big guys!

So that was something that let both of us know that we loved eachother for our inside, not our outside.. We talked on the phone every night sometimes 3 hours . .we talked on AIM for 3-4 hours a day and played online games together.. It was soo amazing and so deep. We have now lived together for 2 years but I STILL miss those days and those late night phone calls.. We have a wonderful playful, loving, committed relationship but it will never be quite as DEEP as it was back then ..

No, but I would like to. Have a very special person I met through 'answers' but he is in England and I am in the USA but I really hope we meet one day. Oh don't know what the age matters but I just turned 35 and he will be 50 in January.

Yes I did several time, I would rather meet in public first to see how they are, if you don't connect with the other person then you could go your own way, is safer to bring your friend with you to safe, you could meet for coffee or drinks after work, oh I'm over fifty
