this guy likes me a lot. i found out about a week ago or longer. I realized 5 days ago how much i like him. I told him that i wanted to go out with him and then sorta backed out! now i dont know how to tell him I like him and want to go out with him?

Just start calling him, and talking with him. Don't ask him out again for at least a few weeks - get to know each other better during those times, and by then maybe he'll forget about the time that you backed out. Then, when you guys really know each other, and like each other, then go out.
