Are you thinking of alcoholic?
Someone is only an alcoholic if they are addicted i.e. can't stop drinking. Does he want to stop? If not, there's not much you can do.

Please tell me your joking. First of all, let me show you sentence structure. This will help people take you seriously. I will re-write your sentence in English-"I don't think my friend, Ron, knows what he is doing. I need to help him so he will not die from ALCOHOLISM". Yes, the word for one who drinks everyday is typically Alcoholism, be it Beer, or Whisky, alcohol is alcohol. Test-stop drinking for a few days, see what happens. If its painful or difficult, my money's on alcoholism. "if ya walk like a duck and quack like a duck, yer probably a duck. AA for him and Alanon for you. Good luck.
