Heading to NY city (Manhatten) this weekend for a getaway with a buddy. Can anyone tell me any good bars/pubs/clubs that are a must see something with a live band would be cool but I'll take any advice at this point?

2. Chelsea Place- hot place around 9:00 P.M.-cover charge required. small bar but lots of fun-lot of females and the music is good!

I don't know what kind of music you like so hard to recommend -- there are hundreds of live music venues , but here's a few

Bowery Ballroom, Knitting Factory, Webster Hall -- Mostly Comtemporary Rock Type Stuff.

BB Kings, Irving Plaza acts that have been around for awhile.

Rodeo Bar -- Rockabilly and Classic Country -- AND it's free (Third Ave and 27th)

There are a bunch of live music clubs also on and around Bleeker Street in the Village -- Terra Blues (Blues) Back Fence etc.

Have fun
