You wouldn't 'become' anything - you'd realize that your current identity as an individual in a body is illusory and that you are EVERYTHING - that there is only ONE thing (and that you, me, jesus, buddha, george bush, mother theresa, charles manson, etc.) are all just illusory projections of the real 'YOU' (which is 'ME'). You realize that you are Existence itself - that which has always been and always will be. However, all of these words are just a bunch of garbage and more layers of conceptual crap that keeps us away from having this experience (more concepts and things that our ego/self uses). Instead, these things should be used as tools to get to a direct experience -- e.g. read '3 Pillars of Zen' for some very good info. I also recommend 'A Course in Miracles'. The key with all of this is that you can not get an answer to your question -- an answer will give you concepts and concepts are just more things the ego uses to maintain itself. Need to go for the direct experience, which is beyond any joy that you can imagine.

Hungry? oh, ego, I was thinking eggo!! just playing!
I am not sure someone can totally have no ego since that is in our basic makeup as a human. I think that we can have a sound mind. The word says that we are called to have not a spirit of fear, but of love, power and a sound mind. I think that means we can work towards being disciplined in our thoughts and our actions. We choose how to react to a situation.
be blessed in your walk

No one could let go his ego if he was not completely attached to God. When you are attached to God you are safe in His omnipotent protection, and you become a true human being with physical, intellectual and spiritual happiness and progress.
To understand clearly what is self-detachment, I suggest that you study properly the teachings of the Messenger of God for our time. Otherwise, your false knowledge and vague imagination may lead you to tremendous harm!

A rare being indeed: a completely self-less person. Mother Theresa was a really good example of such a person. So was St. Francis of Assisi.
It is possible, but even they needed help to do all their cool stuff. You would need to find something sooooooooo overwhelming, spiritually and mentally, that you would totally lose focus on yourself as important, and focus on the new target instead.
They focused on Jesus.

Ego is the executive branch of our brain it says yes or no to situations. So don't let it go. Or you will become ROADKILL like the man said before. Stay alert.

Ego is a Freudian concept. His theory would offer you two options: Id and Superego.
