How can some guy living 2000 years ago be a supposed son of god, i think christianity is the world's biggest scam and millions of people are falling victim to something the guy, jesus dude, probably never even said. What if i proclaim to be the son of god tomorrow? and supposed awake from the dead, you never saw jesus awake from the dead, so why should you demand to see me awake from the dead, its all hear-say bullshit.

Go for it. See if you can set yourself up to be worshipped by billions over 200 years time. If it is so easy, why haven't thousands of others done it?

I always find this thought process vaguely hilarious. How much research have you done on the historical Jesus? How about on the transmission of the Bible? What do you know of the time- and what kinds of sources did you use?

I'm not saying that Christianity as we know it is perfect or even a good representation of what Jesus preached- but there sure seems to be a core there that no one has successfully assailed in 2 millenia.

You don't have to believe, but just so you don't look so much like an idiot, you may want to do a little research from some less biased sources first.

Dude Stop already you are only going to get the same Whining Faith Based Answers! Like " I believe" or "Have You read The Bible Lately?" (Like It has Changed in the past few years or something!
They believe that's all some people need belief. You and I choose to go around Believing that the Wind is the Wind and nothing else. Jesus has staying power because his original teachings were Never Codified into a doctrine actually so they are able to flow with the times and allow peoples to feel good about themselves and not think about things like death and why they are here or if there is anything else! Jesus taught a few things we should all follow whether we believe in God or not.
1. Brotherhood.
2. Tolerance.
3. Love.
4. Peace.
In effect he was the Ultimate Hippie and in a time when belief was needed the People were Beaten and the poor needed a reason to rise above themselves and Jesus gave them that and in effect is still giving it today through the collections of myth called the Bible.

A scam about a guy living a couple of millenia ago
claiming to be son of God
the world's biggest scam
million of people falling victim
seems like you list four marvelous reasons to believe. If you can preach these scams for so long in so many places - then there has to be something to it. Even Cleo couldn't scam M. Anthony that long.

Lets see... Jesus had followers who were so convinced that he was God, and that they saw Him give himself up to die. They were so sure that they saw Him alive again, that they were willing to be brutally put to death before they would deny Jesus rose from the dead. I think I'll believe what they say instead of people who are trying to get away with the lifestyle they think is fun.

BTW If you look at what the Bible teaches about morality, you will see that it's for the protection of the people. Not just some religious code to prove we are holier than you are.

Sin is only fun for a season.

Ask any person with sexually transmitted disease because of sexual "freedom".

Ask any guy paying child support because there was nothing wrong with sleeping around.

You have to be smart you say? I say Ha! It'll bite you in the end. Care-full! Back-out while you have the chance.

Confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and Believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, and you shall be saved.

God loved you so much that He sent his only son that whoever believes in Him might be saved.

He loves you. Please, please give him a chance.

Hitler spoke of the "Big Lie", i.e. if people hear a lie often and enthusiatically enough, they will believe it. Witness boxer Cassius Clay boasting that he was "The Greatest". Many suckers believe that even now. It seems pretty certain that some of Jesus' followers made a new religion based upon him. They probably added much to the tale, e.g. miracles and resurrection, to make it sell. Another example is the cult of Nostrodamus. He was a crude fraud who has become a supposed predictor of events that happened long after his death. There are many scams...and there are many suckers that fall for them. I imagine some Christians will want to crucify you for pointing out some unpleasant truths about their religion that they refuse to face. My sister becomes angry if I say things that cast doubt upon her religion. She seems to realize deep down that it is nonsense and fears to face it.

There is false christianity & there is true christianity!
The majority of people are under false christianity.
To prove if Jesus is real or not start by reading your bible & then put God to the test by what He says in His Word!
Pray & read your bible daily & learn it for yourself. Don't just beleive some preacher or your own family. If your prayers are from the heart then you will get an answer!

How did George Bush scam half of a country (well, almost) into believing he is a suitable presidential candidate?

The collective conventional wisdom of the masses...you may like it, or you may hate it, but it's powerful stuff.

everyone knows that religion is a crock. The whole world needs to admit to this... but are afraid of going to some.. made up, imaginary "HELL" ... prescribed by the very "holy book" that has possessed them ... forget Satan, Lucifer, Damien Omen 666 et al.. watch out for the deluded ... Mohammed's and Jesus HC's.
(Its all just fairy stories in reality, very much like Santa Claus and Goldilocks and the three Bears, although at least the latter dont threaten your life.)

So to answer your question, the scam becomes 'successful' because it threatens the 'believer' with an imagined scenario ie. hell or in the case of islam threatens you with death if you dont believe in it. This plague we call religion has riddled the earth like a bad disease.

THATS WHY !
