My religion is the Catholic religion and it never taught me that sex was wrong or evil. It taught me that it is natural and an idea of God's. I feel kind of insulted that someone equates religion with narrow-mindedness. Because that is not what I was taught. I think that video has some good points, but I was embarassed for the person who thought it out. Whoever it was, just insulted a great deal of wonderful people without really knowing who they were. He/she made an assumption at the very beginning that flawed the entire dialogue. Some of the points were very good. Others not so well thought out. I'm not sure who this person is arguing with. And to make a certain point, the church is a guide, as is our parents, and actually a lot more influence on how we regard sexuality comes more from our parents than it does the church.

Been there, done that. Yea, I mean having sex with baboons and fish. Oh, sorry was that out loud. It's the guy doing the voice over on the video that wants sex with frogs. Hey man, didn't want to step on your toes. Yea let's all have sex like the animals. I'll just grab a passing girl and do it in the street like dogs do. After all it's perfectly normal according to this guy.
I don't see what this bollocks has to do with anything rational or moral, not even getting into religion. Or could it be the work of the devil, or Osama Bin Laden trying to undermine the morals of the western world, or some alien influence or perhaps........................

To defend my religion would make people think that this guy on the video actually has a valid point, which in my opinion he doesn't. Anyone who has read the bible knows that sex out of wedlock is a sin,if your not a Christian, then why would this be important to you anyway?

I have to tell you, I found your video to be completely ridiculous. The Bible (which, I guess would be included in those "religions" that allow sex in marriage that your video talked about- and on that note, check what the Bible has to say about "religion") states that sex is not a sin, but, you should only engage in sex in marriage. Sex outside of marriage is a sin- think about it- if everyone waited until they were married to have sex, the world wouldn't be filled w/ people infected w/ STDs, AIDS, etc. There wouldn't be so many single mothers struggling to raise a child. God reserved sex for marriage as a way to protect our mental and physical well being. And by the way, God doesn't brainwash. Satan, however, does- you just proved that.

In other words, since sex can bewilder the minds of even those who are endeavoring for spiritual life, we should therefore acknowledge sex as supreme, am I right or wrong?
Well, while sex may keep people's minds bewildered for some time it does not solve all of the problems of life. It is like a fix a drug gives you. Sex is the opium or heroin of the people.
Human beings are capable of thinking about more intelligent less foolish things than sex. There are more constructive beneficial things to think about rather than sex.
I don't have fast access to watch your whole video. I got the jist of it with the first few minutes.

Good video. Weak argument though, and ahistorical, mostly just ignorant, though plausible sounding polemic. It assumes religious leaders are more devious and analytical than they in fact are. I've known many, many religious leaders and pastored myself and no one thinks in those terms. None of my acquaintance consider sex a sin though they equate sexual disloyalty in marriage a sin (adultery) and sex without familial commitment a sin (fornication).
The origin of these taboos originally was controlling pregnancy and making men responsible for supporting the children they father. Both obvious social goods in a tribal society and they were enot imposed by priests and religions, but by tribal rules base d on practicality. Veneral disease was a later consideration.
As to the assumption that flesh was evil, this is a concept we owe, at least in Christianity, primarily to the influence of Greek metaphysicians, not priests, who believed matter was crude, and thus physicality was crude, and thus the means to sprituality and purity was denying one's physical needs. The influence of the Platonists and Neo-Platonists on Catholic dogma was profound, and was the self-loathing of former whore chaser Augustine and his blaming women for his sexual escapades as a young man. So we do, much later in the life of monotheism, see thenotion that sex itself, unless done purely for procreation, is a venial sin.
Note the division between Old Testament, which prohibited fornication and adultery as practical matters, to the New Testament which outrights calls our flesh itself evil. This reflects the Greek influence. This trend peaked with the Desert Fathers, though we still have monks in caves covered with lice and vermin to this day in their attempt to "deny the flesh."
I agree with the thrust of the film that sex is natural and normal and not a sin. But the claims and tone of the film is simply uninformed ad hominem, and I think in arguing with religious tradition or anything else, one ought to argue from the facts, and not simply tar the opposition with the most denigrating argument you can muster.
The narrator I believe is the producer of "The God Who Wasn't There" which I liked. I'm a deconvert myself, an atheist also, and left behind more than he did. But while I agree the church has many flaws and weaknesses, and loads of nonsense, at some point you have to stopped just being pissed that you were suckered, which he hasn't, and deal with these issues rationally. That means not letting your paranoia run over the cliff and not going for the cheap shots all the time. Every time the church teaches nonsense it isn't always because all the clergy know it's a lie and are engaging in some massive millenia old conspiracy to mind control everyone.

How and when did God ever say "Sex is Sin."
If Nuns choose to abstain from sex, I'm sure its not because they think its evil, its because its symbolic of them giving their life and service to God's way of life.
And whoever made that video is a dumbass idiot! Sorry but its sooo lame....
First off, God, the Creator in my book, made us with certain organs that give us the opportunity to have sex, so what the hell is this guy's point?! It doesn't make any sense. He overgeneralized it.
I don't mean to sound blunt, its just how I feel. Be careful of what videos you are watching over the internet because they can be brainwashing...Don't get ideas like that in your head. Its fine to browse videos but to believe that religion and that "sex is sin" is equal, well is quite wrong.
*I'm guessing your young, so be careful don't believe everything you see or read, that goes for everyone including myself*

Honey, I don't need to defend anything. There is a way that seems right to man, but in the end leads to destruction. Nowhere in the bible does it say sex is sinful. It says sex outside of MARRIAGE is sinful. God made the marriage covenant for sexual relations. How many young ladies do you know that have gotten pregnant, STDs, broken hearts, ruined lives, over throwing themselves away on people who don't care for them and merely use them for sex, later to regret it? Well I know quite a lot, and I used to be one of them, as well.
God doesn't want to ruin our fun, He wants to protect us. And His ways are much higher than our ways. What people try to justify, God proclaims as sin. That's all there is to it. Sex is intended for marriage only, between one man and one woman. If a person doesn't live that way, they are saying to God "forget you". Sex is not some sort of sport. It is a very intimate joining of two people; God knows this...that is why He created the bond of marriage, to hold it.

If you cannot defend your religion then your religion doesn't make sense. You only keep your beliefs to stay "closer to the herd." That doesn't make you a coward, but how else can you reach your potential?

Sex is not a sin. The purpose for sex is for extreme pleasure and enjoymeant and to reproduce. It is meant for confines of marriage. The difference between humans and animals is there are emotions involved. maybe not for you but most. It is a bond between a man and a woman ment to pleasurable. No Where does God say it is sin to have sex he does say it is sin to have sex outside of marriage, which by the way is defined as a union between a man and a woman. But maybe not for you. So if your going to be a whore why not get paid?
