Say the following. " Nah, I love it here. Why don't you leave?"

I am in the WV Army National Guard, and am involved in a pretty serious relationship with a beautiful Japanese girl. I've had to take some flak from that from some local racists, but love is a lot more powerful than anything they can say.
I would simply say, "This is my country, and I am very proud of it." What more can they say. Their family most likely migrated here less than three hundred years ago. Too many people forget that these days.

heh, I got an email from someone because I answered his question telling him how absolutely ignorant he was. His email basically told me I needed to get on the boat with the muslims because I defended the whole group with the Constitution of the US.

I'm not Asian, I'm an inbred small town country farm survivor who finally found her way to the "big" city. Did I mention I was a pagan aswell? regardless, it doesn't matter, I just defended a group of people who had done nothing to deserve the crap that was being dumped on them and got branded a terr0rrist sympathizer, since I obvios do not stand up to the same goals any upstanding American would.

I laughed so hard reporting his email as abuse...lol. It was great. As I am shallow and callous.

Quietly pat them on the head, as a child, and walk away.
or, if you must reply, I agree...ask them if they watch the news, how long their family has been here, why they came, and likely they will have no idea.
Whatever you do, don't let them get to you if you can, because some people simply do not understand the realities of the world, and/or have no idea what dreams America was originally founded upon. Walk away knowing that you have a better understanding of this country than they do.

i think that's really lame because freaking the first people in this country were from BRITAIN. So basically everyone originally here started out as an "immigrant." So unless you were actually born in america [like most children and such] no one really has the right to say that.

if you were an asian who has immigrated [like my parents] and have been for the past 20 years or so [like my parents] then you are literally a U.S. citizen.

so you could say whatever the heck you felt like :D

There are countless responses you can make, it's all up to how you choose to conduct yourself.

A. You can be cordial and simply flip the bird!
B. You can be ready by carrying an American flag in your purse.
C. You can practice stress relief by pulling out your American made Smith & Wesson and blowing the perpertrator's head off.
D. You can practice self-improvement by asking yourself what you've done to provoke such an outburst.
E. Or simply take the high road - walk away, and go about your business. Karma will reward you.

Unless the person who is yelling that is a Native American - all you have to say is - and what country would you go back to?

Considering the United States is made up of immigrants - everyone can trace their roots from some other country!

I don't think you need to hit back or come up with a smart answer. The person saying this to you obviouslu has some issues. You shouldn't fall to their level. You could say something like - "I am sorry you feel this way. I think you have some insecurities and need some help. Good luck to you." and walk away. This is their problem, not yours. If you engage in a "let me show you who can be nastier" discussion - you will be making it your problem unnecessarily.

I am an Anglo/white/southern male. My family goes back to 1700s. I want to personally assure you that we aren't all stupid hicks and sorry that the stupid hicks in this country seem to have the loudest voices.
The other responses are good. In particular the response that you are already in your own country is best. People need to start standing up and politely challenging ignorant views.

Tell them this IS your country... you have been here for 20 years and you pay taxes and work and give to society. America is a melting pot of ethnic traditions brought abroad to the USA. I bet this jerks grandparents came from somewhere as an immigrant many years ago.

I am shamed by this person's ignorance

I would do the right thing and say something in a really bad asian accent. Make sure to mess up the L and R. Then kick him in the face and tell him to stop being an *** in your real perfect english.
