am a new knitter i knitted a couple rows but i didn't keep track of how many rows I've knitted(i need to knit 7 rows)...how do i track how many rows I've knitted ...count the ridges maybe??...

Count the ridges, yes. That's the easy bit. It's when you come to decreasing that it gets tricky!

The best thing to do is to learn how to "read" your knitting.

Are you knitting stockinette (knit 1 row, purl 1 row) or garter stitch (knit every row)?

If it's stockinette there is one purl ridge for every row.

If it's garter st, there is one purl ridge for every 2 rows.

You can use a pencil and paper to keep track of your rows--make a tick mark after you've completed a row. Or you can use a row counter--advance the counter after you've completed a row.

i recommend purchasing a $2 row counter.
