It's supposed to be a meteorite. I'm not familiar with claims for its origin. I believe it's in Mecca's Grand Mosque.

I've read that the original rock was a meteorite, and that it has some sort of magnetic properties. I have also read that some ancient sources claim that it is actually the head of a giant statue of the pagan goddess Aphrodite, from an ancient Greek temple. I don't know how much truth there is to that, but if it is true, it would be quite ironic.

i dont see why Christians or any one else for that matter would feel the need to make up such lies about Islam?!!! what is it that they fear to make people go out of their way and change the truth with LIES?? i always wonder.
